Extreme Belly Button Pain

I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with my second child. I had a very easy pregnancy with my first but seem to be having some issues with this second one. Early in the pregnancy I started getting belly button pain but it wasn't too bad and went away after a day. I noticed that my belly would grow after those bouts of pain. Now I started having pain in my stomach yesterday and it has not gone away. I can push anywhere on my stomach and it does not hurt but as soon as I get close to my belly button a sharp pain shoots down my stomach. If I lay down and lay still it doesn't hurt but as soon as I move or get up and start walking it is really painful and all I want to do is lay back down and cry. It has also made me feel nausious from the pain and I do not want to eat or do anything. My daughter is 3 and is having a hard time of me not picking her up. Has anyone ever experienced this? If so what did you do? I was thinking about calling my doctor today but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this sort of pain. Thanks you ladies are always so helpful.

So What Happened?

I really don't appriciate the rudness that people seem to think is nesscary. Please don't think I am in extreme I can not walk pain. Extreme pain to me may be different to you. I was in labor with my first child and did not even know it so this is a different pain and not like the labor pain. I did call this morning and made an appt with my doctor. They did not seem too worried but want to check things out. I appriciate the ladies that are being nice. I can not just get up in the middle of the night and go to the hospital for a little pain, since I do have a 3yr old.

I had the exact same thing with my 2nd pregnancy (and not the first). Exactly like you're describing....nowhere else except my belly button. My dr told me it was the way the baby was positioned and making everything push against my umbilical. She said she had the same thing in her pregnancy, so she knew what I was describing. She told me it was okay, and not to worry too much, but if the pain became worse, to call and let her know. I would still call your dr and maybe talk to a nurse, though, just to be sure that's what it is with you. They may want you to go in, they may not. I didn't make a special appt just for that, since I had one of my scheduled appts the week I started feeling them, so I just asked then.

I asked more questions in my 2nd pregnancy than my 1st! I had such an easy 1st pregnancy, and my 2nd wasn't difficult, but definitely different! I didn't feel as good the whole time, and had new and worse symptoms. So don't feel weird asking questions even though you're not a FTM;-)

The internet is a lovely thing and this site is great for sharing but you are telling us you are in extreme pain and are 27 weeks pregnant. You shouldn't be asking us this question right now, you should have been on the phone to your yesterday!

Call into to your doctor now! Don't wait till they open. They have an after hours number for a reason. It might be nothing but you have no way of knowing if extreme pain, inability to walk due to the pain, crying because of the pain and nausea are no biggie or pre-term labor!

it could be an umbilical hernia. that's what i had, and it started when i was pregnant. off to the doctor you go, and dont worry, if it is a hernia the surgery is a snap and you will feel better quickly! congrats on the baby!

i had pain like that when i was pregnant with my son (but i think it stated more around 32 weeks but i cant remember) by 36 weeks i couldnt walk without holding my hand over my belly button. for me it turned out that the baby was just pushing his head against my belly button. but i would ask your doctor (if the pain gets worse ask to move up your next appiontment) as for your daughter, can she still sit on your lap or does that press against you stomach, cuz maybe if u do that alot she will feel better about u not picking her up
