Expired Formula - Topeka,KS

I am cleaning out my cupboard & noticed I had some formula (liquid) that was sent home with us from the hospital. Since my little one is fed breastmilk, is there anything I can do with the expired formula? I certainly don't want to get anyone sick but don't want to throw away formula if someone can use it. Same rules apply to powder?

What can I do next?

Call the 800 number on the can. The company can tell you whether it is a taste issue or a safety issue. If it's only a possible change in taste, then I'd ask around to see if someone could use it.

Because it's liquid i would toss it. I was told that the powder can be used after the expiration date, although I think most organizations would reject it for that reason. Shelters may take it. There are also stores that sell only expired stuff really cheap. Why? Because a lot of stuff is fine after that date. I would call a food bank and ask about the powder stuff.

I'd throw it out, you don't want to mess with baby formula.

Shelters won't take it if it's past the dates. Some will take anything, but then throw away anything expired.
I would definitely not mess with baby formula. A lot of stuff I think can be used after the date, but I would never risk using expired baby formula.

It's expired. Throw it away. Don't look back. :)

If it's past a week over the expiration date you'll have to throw it away. With most things if they've been stored properly they can go up to one week past date. Sorry.

maybe a pet would like it mixed with water if it's not too old but I doubt they'd like it, that stuff tastes pretty nasty.
