Experience with the Mono Virus
Has anyone had any experience with the mono virus? My 13 year old daughter has had 3 different flair-ups. Each time her blood work shows positive and currently active for the virus. These flairs have happened over the course of 2 years. I have collected a lot of data on the subject and we are continually doing everything we know to do to prevent these flairs. It really interupts her schedule and mine, not to mention what it does to her physically and mentally. she does get the B12 injections. Her diet is good, with fresh fruit and veggies. She gets a full 8 to 9 hours of sleep at night, and is physically active with tennis and volleyball. Any experiences you guys have had may be of some help to us. Thanks M.
So What Happened?™
I just want to thank everyone that offered advice to us. It seems that we are doing everything possible to keep the mono virus under control. It appears that my daughter will simply require a less aggressive schedule. The good news is that she will eventually build back up, if we take care now. Thanks again.

I, too, was plagued with mono throughout my high school years. Eventually they said the virus can cause Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which is what they then called it in my 20's. Besides what some of the other ladies have said, I was told that the virus thrives on sugar/yeast so I went on a yeast free diet. I hope this helps....

I'm not an expert, but I had Mono as an adult...I think I was 26 or so. Mono is part of the Epstein Barr Virus and it was my understanding that once you had the virus...and tested positive for Mono that you would always test positive because the virus remains in your system so to speak. I had a really hard time with my immune system for about 2 years following my bout with mono; I got tonsilitis all the time and had all kinds of flu's and such...AWFUL! The ENT who originally diagnosed the mono offered subsequently to do a mono test again and when I inquired about it being positive...he agreed with me that it would likely show positive since I Had Mono in past so I skipped the blood draw. I can't imagine how awful it must be to try and keep a 13 year old resting and healthy. Bless you! Have you thought about accupuncture? I've heard people have great results treating Mono with chinese medicine. If you are in Asheville; there's a great clinic in Montford led by Dr. Cissy Majebe. When I was having all of the recurring illnesses after my bout with mono I discussed accupuncture with her and she said (at that time) that they had someone in their clinic who specialized in helping folks with those types of ailments. Might be worth a try and certainly couldn't hurt! Good luck!

I like the chiropractic advice some others offered, since you may not have tried that yet that is a good idea. Or acupuncture would be great for her too.
Is you daughter an overachiever and a worrier - anxious about everything? My daughter is and it has helped a lot to take her to a counselor. He has a Phd in Psychology and one of his specialties is to help teens with anxiety. He teaches coping skills and helps her to see the big picture. It is really helping a lot.
The reason I mention it is that stress from anxiety would lower her immune system and make her more susceptible to mono.
Good luck!

This product is wonderful. It rids the body of viruses, parasites, bacteria, and anything else that shouldn't be there. The URL is: http://mmsmiracle.com/TBowden. I've been using is since November '08. It's truly helping me achieve better overall health. Be sure to order an activation kit. This 1 bottle will last a least a year for a family. I will gladly share the protocol I use to take it, should you order it.
Here is a sight with great natural ways to treat your body, called EarthClinine.com. This is just one page I found when I searched "Mono." http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/mononucleosis.html
You can also consider Quantum Biofeedback. It is a non-invasive method to help relieve the body of various forms and levels of stress. I've also had these types of sessions. I can tell you that I felt better after 1 session than I had felt in over 4 years. However, still have a ways to go. After being chronically ill and disabled since after childbirth, Biofeedback has really jump started my journey to wellness, along with using the MMS. Check out this site. http://www.aquantumoasis.com
Good luck to your and your family. Extra blessings for your daughters recovery.

Hi M.,
I'm very familiar with it, aaarrggh! The only way to get it to quit flairing up is to build her immune system. You sound like you've got the maintenance aspect of health down but you need to hit this one head on.
Chiropractic by a principled chiropractor is a good start. If you'd don't have one that understands the immune system, go to www.upcspine.com and find one in your area. You can control almost any type of health problem if you've got a good chiropractor.
Shop organically for her fruits and veggies if you aren't already. The chemicals in the grocery store stuff will also break down her immune system. She really needs to be on an ABSORBABLE multi-vitamin. I only know of one that does not create free radical activity. Free radicals feed these types of disorders. If you're interested, let me know.
Beta-Glucan, from the yeast cell wall, is an incredibly good immune booster. It is so strong that it is used in the Bahamas in order to cure cancer by building the immune system to fight it off on it's on. It is perfectly safe to take a lot AND often. Get it from a PHARMACEUTICAL grade health store, not a GNC or someplace like that. Vitamin Shoppe is the only chain that I know of that sells pharmaceutical grade supplements.
Like I said, let me know if you're interested in supplementing her eating with a good vitamin. I'd be glad to help.

My daughter had this. She was stressed all the time. Over achiever! to the max. I cut out all junk food. Everything I could get my hands on at the time was organic, and fresh. Lots of greens, lots of veggies and yes, lots of red meats and fish. Build up her immunity. I tend to go through good nutrition. I cut back her stress. Whether it be sports or school, or work. She was 16 and working part time, doing sports and school. She was homeschooled also. So we took it a little easy at the homeschool part, she cut back to one sport and she cut back on her hours at work. She only took two classes at the community college. I cooked everything fresh for her, even her snacks. It took time, I even had her drinking fresh goat milk and made her fresh goat cheese. I had the goats of course, so it was handy. The unpasturized milk really helped her. If you can't get that, then you can always go with almond milk that you make from home. If you need to know how to make that let me know, it's time consuming, but it's very high in protein and it doesn't take much.
Please keep us posted on how she is doing.

I am not sure if this will help any but when I was a sophmore in high school I had Mono for 2 months. I rested a lot, and was on steroids at times, but back then there probably wasn't as much you could do as there is now. Since then I have been told a few times that I have had it again but I was just real tired and not feeling well and none of the doctors I saw ever really gave any advice as to how to keep it away. I would suggest a good vitamin and lots of vitamin C and wash her hands a lot and don't share a drink or anything with any one. Hope this helps and I hope she feels better!!
