Experience with Home Warranty Company?

We are looking for a Home Warranty Company. Has anyone had experience with a company that provides great customer service. As I am doing research, I have noticed that there are some companies that have major complaints and law suits against them. Please let me know if you have a home warranty and if anything has broken down and how the customer service was. Thank you!

When we purchased our home last year we got a home warranty with American Home Guardian. Right before our one year with them, we were having AC issues. The tech they send out did a very through job and was very nice. We decided to renew for another year with them but bumped it down to their basic package since we were the ones paying for it this time. (The seller paid for the other one.) We currently have Old Republic and I second the comments about them being difficult to deal with. We have been in our house for just over four years and have had issues with our AC for the entire time (it's the original unit from 26 years ago). We finally settled with them for cash but it took calling numerous times, over the weekend, complaining a lot, etc. to get any recognition of the actual issues we were having. I'm appreciating this request right now so that we might consider a new company moving forward. Thanks for asking it! :)

We have our home warranty through Fidelity national Home Warranty 1-800-862-6837. I have not had any bad experiences with them. The customer service line is open 24 hours, and the people speak English. The sevice contractor normally contacts you within 24 hours and the service fee is $55. Best of luck

Hi!

We have Service One. They are local - in AZ. Very good, so far! They sent someone out to fix our A/C who seemed very knowledgable and willing to work OT...they came after 6pm. =) We used to have Old Republic and fought with them like crazy! The people they sent to us to repair were always coming back....one tech admitted he installed the wrong size compressor in our heating unit. Old Republic would not send a new tech, they said they had to give that same tech the opportunity to fix the problem...even though it took him 6 visits!

K., I am in the mortgage business, so I deal with Home Warranty companies all of the time. I also dont suggest a company to my clients unless I know that the rep and the company offer great service. Here is some info for Old Republic Home Protection,

This is our first experience with a home warranty and I am not impressed at all with Old Republic. Our realtor picked this company and it's been terrible. We placed a call within 2 weeks of moving in and they were telling us that it was a pre-existing condition. I guess we started placing a claim too soon - whatever that means. Won't renew it that's for sure. Good Luck.

I have had a home warranty with American Home Shield since I moved into my house in 2000. I have had nothing but great experience. I have had a couple of plumbing problems, and electrical problem and an ariconditioner replaced. Each time the response to my call was courteously and quickly handled, the repair companies were very professional. I recommend them highly.

I ditto Kathy R.'s response, we have had an a/c unit replaced and a stove top, dishwasher repair, and I think that is it - but most of the time it was a really easy process.
