Experience with DKH Academy or Mother's-Day-Out at Valley Creek?

We're currently looking at pre-schools for our son, who will turn 3 in August. Does anyone have any children who attends/attended DKH Academy in Highland Village or the Mother's-Day-Out program at Valley Creek Church in Flower Mound? We have narrowed our choices down to these two. Please share your experiences, both positive and negative. Thank you.

I don't have experience with these centers but wanted to give you the state link to look up their inspections and if they have been written up by the state. Click on link below and follow the steps - or I should say click on search day care and then fill in the form. It will give you information on any child care in an area or on a specific on. Good luck.

My daughter 4 yrs old goes to DKH Academy now. The teachers and the director have been great. My daughter loves her school now and her teacher. They really made school fun for her now. They don't do field trip they bring shows to the kids like this month someone from Art from the Heart will be coming to the school to do a project with them. So far I have liked the school and they are helping her prepare for Kindergarten for next year which has made things easier on me trying to get her to understand about Kindergarten.
I had to pull her from another school because they were terrible. Alot of the moms I know have put their kids in both schools and they have been happy with their choice.
Good Luck!

K.,
My kids are at VCC and love it. We have been putting our kids in there for the past 3 years. My youngest daughter will turn 3 in July and she is currently enrolled and loves it! They do the best crafts ever!
The staff at VCC are awesome. They all really have a heart for kids and God.
Maybe I will see you in the Fall.

Valley Creek MDO is wonderful. Both of my girls attend there (ages 4-1/2 and 3). They follow the ABecca program also. They are extending the hours next year from 9-2 which is a plus and they are reasonably priced. I have found that many MDOs in the area don't last that long, 4 hrs just flies by too fast! The teachers are great! My 3 yr old was able to tell me the story of Easter including several songs, knows all of her colors, and knows most of her letters. The director is very attentive also, this year my 3 yr old had a problem going into a class room I voiced my concern to the director and she switched my daughter to another class the very next day. Goodluck with your decision !

My daughter attended preschool at DKH when she was four (she is nine now so it has been a while). The ownership was changing as my daughter's time there was finishing so all I can say it I really hope things have changed there since our experience. Our family had just relocated from Florida and that was literally the only preschool I could find with an opening. From the beginning I was less than impressed but I hated to pull her out of her second preschool (the first one being her school in FL). She wasn't treated poorly but I found the things being "taught" less than wonderful. My daughter would come home with so many art projects that were "perfect" and held together by nothing but hot glue so I knew that she was watching while her teacher did things for her. Coming from a school with an A Becka curriculum to a school that was so relaxed about prekindergarten academics was very disappointing. Anyway, as I said before, the ownership had changed so maybe the expectations are a little higher now.

Best wishes in your decision.

Dear K.,
My son went to DKH years ago, he is a 5th grader now. Most of the teachers were very good. He participated in an extra program called Around the World there as well and really enjoyed it. My overall feeling for the school was good with some minor issues. His teacher was not the best for him as far as challenging him. He basically figured out how to get what he wanted from her early on. She also taught Spanish with a Texas accent. It is a good hearted school with great ladies teaching that love the kids. Stay involved. They have a lot of functions to go to for parents and that can keep you up to speed.

I don't have any experience with the VCC MDO program but I do attend VCC and the kids facilities are awesome. The kids always seem happy to be there. If you haven't already I would suggest going and checking it out.

Good Luck!

We have been very happy with Valley Creek's MDO. My daughter loves going to "school" and is learning a lot in the 2 year old class. They are adding an extra hour to the school day for next year, which I think will be even better! Good luck!
