So What Happened?

So I've made it into the second trimester and so far so good! I'm going to see the doctor next week and from what my family and friends have been telling me and what I've been feeling I'm half expecting to hear two heartbeats when we go see the doctor. I went shopping last week for some maternity clothes and found some great stuff at Kid to Kid, thanks so much for the recommendations! I have had some hard times though this past week, I was forced to resign from my job, I guess they didn't like the fact that I was pregnant... Any ideas or suggestions about some possible jobs would be great! I've been looking for secretarial positions that will keep me off my feet as much as possible or even some work from home jobs. Again any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks so much for everything though you have all been outragiously helpful!

Two words.... Clearance Rack! Old Navy, Target, Motherhood Maternity, any of those stores, you will find great deals on their clearance racks. I only bought a couple of things (for special occasions) at full price, everything else was on the clearance rack. Also, craigslist.org and ebay, people are always selling clothes. But what I found with maternity clothes was that one stores Medium fit like anothers Large. Also, don't forget about shrinkage. I didn't buy a whole lot, so everything got washed a lot, and it shrinks.

I went to a store called Kid to Kid. It's on Mississippi and Chambers i believe. Next to a payless and Michaels craft store. I bought a lot of my maternity clothes and baby stuff. They're always having sales. One day you may walk in and everything in the store will be 20% off.

Hi B. -
In all honesty, I would suggest going to the good will. I did so and found a lot maternity clothes that still had the tags on them. If anything that is a start. You can always try a store located in the Cherry Creek Mall called Motherhood Maternity. They always have sales on blue jeans shirts, work apparel. I have a lot of clothes from them as well.

Hope this helps and congrats!!!

Congrats on your pregnancy! I had to start wearing maternity clothes at 3 months too! Even though I rarley ever find good clothes at thrift stores, I always take a look at what they have. On Sat. most stores have a half off sale too! I have found some great maternity pants, and some tank tops. A lot of other stores like Kohls have great sales also, and the new style in clothing is the babydoll shirts, so it works out for us mommys too!

I actually found a lot of my mat. clothes at Ross. They have stuff come in once a week, I think. Ask what day their shipments come in and go those days. I paid 6.99-14.99 for about everything. Not everything is cute, but you'll be surprised! Also, I'm giving all my mat. clothes to a girl I work with. I want her to go through everything and only take stuff she'll wear. So if I have any left-over, I would love to give them to someone who needs them. Also checkout Craigslist.com. Maybe post a message that you are looking for mat. clothes. You go through them quick and don't really wear the clothes for that long, so they are pretty upkept. I'm sure someone could pass some along to you. Good luck!

Outside of no knowing where you live I can help from my area. Kid to Kid (Mississippi and Chambers, Aurora) is a great used clothings resource for kids and pregnant mommas. They also have furnitures and strollers and such.
Also in Aurora is the Colorado Pregnancy Center (Chambers and 10th) They provide education and counseling for free and through the earn while you learn program you earn Mommy money and then can "shop" for clothes, diapers, and other things you'll need. It can help you learn about your pregnancy, safety and first aid, and other great topics.
Hope this helped some.

There is a great group in denver called Freecycle. If you go to www.freecycle.org website you can search for the groups in Colorado near you. All things posted on the list are free and it gives the oppotunity to get rid of some of your unwanted things too.

Once you become a member (its absolutely free) you can post that you are needing some meternity clothes and someone might be able to help you.

If you need help just let me know. I'm am member of the Aurora and Denver groups so I can help you get it sorted out.

Try looking on Craigslist.com. Look under clothing and kids/baby stuff. I have seen a lot of maternity clothes there for great prices and will probably be buying some there myself soon. My neighbor just got a whole summer wardrobe for like $25 and it's all in really good shape.

both Craigslist & freecycle are AWESOME places to get stuff. Walmart surprizingly has way cute maternity stuff very inexpencivr. Hit the clearance racks. I also have always loved the clothing and the prices at Gordmans. The one in Aurora is off Alameda & Sable, but they have stores all over. I have raided the cleance rack more then once & gotten things for $3.( I got most my Christmas shopping done there last year for our 5 children on our single income) Good luck to you & enjoy your pregnancy.

If you live in Aurora, try the consignment shop called Kid to Kid off of Chambers and Mississippi in the Armadillo shopping center. They have a lot of great stuff, used of course, but even if you need baby items and clothes, they are one of the better consignment shops. I bought a lot of my maternity clothes there. Target is also a good place if you want new clothes.

Hi B.-
I found great stuff at the Goodwill on Leetsdale. It's right near Cherry Creek and the other rich neighborhoods, so you can find lots of high quality stuff for next to nothing. I believe the cross - street is Fairfax or Forest.
If you have to buy anything new (like underwear, bras especially) I would go to Motherhood. Their online site actually has great clearance stuff too. Very cute, very affordable. But if you go to the store (one in CC mall) you can get some great help with sizing (especially bras- which are so important). Good luck!

hello B.. CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

you can look at walmart, their clothing can be cheap, but re-sale shops are usually the spot for cheap clothing. there is a arc at miss and sable. and at miss and peoria there is another but i can't think of the name. the d.a.v. can cost you just as much if you bought brand new. you can find great deals and some really nice clothing at re-sale shops, some will still have the tags on them.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
I WILL BE WAITING TO HEAR IF YOUR HAVING A BOY OR GIRL.

Hi B.,
I have a set of maternity clothes that are good for late summer/fall/winter with some yoga tops and leggings as well as some casual and work clothes that came from Gap, Old Navy, Target and Mimi Maternity. I was a size 10 before pregnancy, so the clothes are considered Large. If that style and size would work for you, they're yours.

Try Ross (Dress for Less), Motherhood (they sometimes have a clearance section), or ebay.

It has been over 10 years since I needed my last set maternity clothes but I can tell you a few things. Aside from standard maternity clothes being expesive (second hand stores are a good resource) they mostly become useless after the baby is born when you still need a roomy garment but want to nurse. I always hatted the most maternity designs were made to make you look virginal... Little collars and bows in the back. Come on now...
I had the most luck with ovesized overalls, come in a variety of fabrics now, even velvet. Smock type dresses work for many months. Most stretchy pants can be bought large but here is the tip, wear them backwards. Save the more expensive maternity garment for when you get to go out with your spouse and want to feel special. With all the plus sized garments on the market, you can get lots of matching shorts, pants or skirt two piece sets that you can at least nurse in later.

Target carries maternity clothes that are reasonably priced as well as Old Navy. Those are the two stores that I bought most of mine from. Also, you can usually find some on ebay that are used.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! It looks like you have gotten some great ideas- I am not sure where you are but if you are in Aurora- there is a store named- KID TO KID off of Mississippi and Buckley that has a great maternity selection for great prices. I have been in the same boat- my last child was a complete suprise and I had already gotten rid of all my maternity clothes (sold them at kid to kid) and had NOTHING to wear once I started to show.

Good Luck
