I was a foster parent in FL. Good luck and it is truly rewarding.It is a labor of love.
I would suggest consignment shops. Also, sign up for the Freecycle groups on yahoo also. Ask for the items on those groups that you are needing. Most of the moms on there are very giving. The Matthews group is a pretty good group. Charlotte has a group also. There are resources through the foster program also. They help you get items you need as well. Always check goodwill also, if they know you are a foster mom, they will often call you when they get something in that you need.

Garage sales are a great place to get baby clothes, toys and books as well.

This is the start of consignment sale season at the local churches (usually United Methodist Churches). I know that this saturday 3-7-09 there is a sale on Harris Blvd. at University City United Methodist Church and next saturday 3-14-09 at Harrisburg UMC on Hwy 49. The prices at consignment sales is usually 25-30 % of retail. There is also a Goodwill store off of University City Blvd at Harris Houston Rd.
