Exercise Videos - Houston,TX
I've come to the conclusion that I'll never find the time or money to join the gym. My new plan is to rearrange my schedule and do it at home. I attended Jazzercise classes before and during my pregnancy and liked the combination of dance and aerobics.
So...tell me your favorite exercise videos and why (I hear good things about Zumba classes, but wonder if anyone has their DVDs?)
Also, do you have a good resource for renting/borrowing?

So What Happened?™
OK...so I bought a TV today (had gotten rid of it over two years ago) and I am going to join NetFlix. They have a ton of videos (once I knew what I was looking for) and have a membership for $4.99 a month. To start, I'll exercise Fri, Sat, Sun so that I don't have to change around my work schedule just yet. I'll do all the cardio and stretching while I am at home...and throw in a little weight lifting when I am on business travel and have access to fitness rooms. Thanks for the feedback--I know this will work for me.

I have a ton of exercise videos (Walk away the pounds, pilates, turbo jam, and a few other series) My husband doesn't know why i have them when i no longer use them but with my 10 month old i don't have the time right now. I know that Netflix has exercise videos to rent, and the best part they come to you in the mail and you can keep them as long as you want.

I like Karen Voight and Denise Austin. I have found some great DVD exercise videos at Goodwill. I paid $3.99 for most of them. Good Luck with your new routine.
Take care,

Not sure how what your intesity level may be but I'm currently doing P90X. It's a 90 day workout that you do at home. It's a different DVD for every day. It's very expensive if you purchase the program regular price so my husband and I bought it off Ebay for $50 (13 DVD's and guides).

Hi A.,
I can't help you with suggesting a good video, but thought I would answer your question about Zumba. I've been doing Zumba religiously for about a year now and I absolutely love it. I never thought I would be a person that actually enjoyed exercise, so Zumba has been like a dream come true for me. IMHO, there is nothing like going to a good Zumba class. I have watched the videos and I thought they were just crappy. When you go to a class, you get energized from the people around you. The music is loud, the song selection is good and everyone (regardless of your shape, size or ability level) is having a good time. The only thing I know to compare it to is like going out for an awesome night of dancing, minus the smoke and drunk people. :) It's really, really fun. If you liked Jazzercise, then I can almost guarantee you'll like Zumba. I'm not sure where you are located, but you might look into going to a class. Here in Waco, there are several places you can go for free. Best of luck to you!

Like everyone else, I too bought all those workout DVDs and they're all collecting dust somewhere on my shelf. The only one that I have bought and actually use on a daily basis is Mitch Gaylord's G-Ball workout DVD. He's got a 10 minute workout that is great! It's kinda pricey, but hey, everyone has 10 minutes they can spare. And it works! I've actually got muscle definition in my arms and legs like you wouldn't believe, whereas before I got started, it was just flab.
I found mine on Ebay after seeing it on TV. The actual website adds too much to your order, like vitamins, etc. I just wanted the G-ball and the DVD. Very cool!

Walk Away the Pounds has been great for me. In fact, I got the whole family (husband, 6-yr-old, 9-yr-old, and 14-yr-old) to get in on it. I bribed them with "we are going on vacation to Walt Disney World" and "you better be able to walk a mile!"
Anyway, the reason I like Leslie Sansone's was the different levels of intensity and that I could duplicate some of the exercises during my daily chores like "take large sideways steps".
I've seen her DVD for sale at Amazon. My DVD actually has the title "Walk Away the Pounds for Abs". I guess I like her voice too, though there were times when the repetition got to me and I would watch the routine without the sound.
Good luck!
D.
