Exercise

I have been cleared to go to the gym and exercise except I have no energy and I found that my joints, back and lower abs hurt when I do. I never had a problem with pain while working out before. What is going on? and how long will this last? losing the pregnancy weight is going to be very difficult if I can't work out like I want to.

What can I do next?

Have you had your thyroid checked? If not, you should ask your doctor, and make sure you get the results back. If your TSH is 2.5 or over, you should ask to be treated. Here's some great info: thyroid.about.com

Can you join the YMCA? It's not very expensive and most of them have swimming pools. Swimming is so easy on the joints. Even if you don't like swimming laps, they have aerobics in the pool just about every day - plus it's a fun way to meet other people. Congratulation on your little one... You know if your breastfeeding you lose all your wight, and it's great for the baby. when i was pregnant, i was 170 and now im down to 112, i have never done any exercises, and in 5 months of breastfeeding i lost all the wight. Hi E.!
Congratulations on your new addition! My son is almost 8 months but it's flown by so quickly, I know exactly how you're feeling. I'm still trying to get my pre-pregnancy bod back, but I gave birth to an 11 pounder - without a c-section - so I've succumbed to the fact that it's going to take me a while. Don't rush yourself. I know you're in a hurry to erase the "bad" side of pregnancy but just take it slow. start with walking maybe? your body just went through one of the most tremendous things you could ask it to - your doctor may have cleared you to go to the gym, but your body just might not be ready for it. 8 weeks isn't a textbook recovery time. I'm sure you hate to hear it (I did - and still do) but just be patient.

E.,

I feel your pain. My son is now 4months old and I have just started getting back into working out, It was even hard to get on the floor for me without everything hurting...and well getting off the floor was a whole other story. But the more you you work out the easier it will get. Just start slow and do alot of stretching. I swear it gets better. GOOD LUCK!

Where do you live?? I go to two different mommy and me yoga classes, and whats nice is its low impact, but the goal is to infuse with energy, so when your tired, it helps, plus one of the classes really focuses on the areas us moms need help with regainaing strength, our abs, vaginal wall etc. Let me know, these classes are in Largo and Clwtr. I LOVE these classes

I don't think I felt "normal" till my son was a year old. I guess it's different for every woman. It took awhile to get back to excercising. Just the whole body change and hormones. Give it time. Take your vitamins and start slow.

1 year ago i weighed 251lbs, i now am down to 140lbs. I started going to Glory Medical. Their weight loss program is amazing & affordable! I am soooooo glad i am doing this & would reccomend it to everyone. The only exercise i do is 30mins of walking a day & sometimes not even that. The web site has a lot of info & if you call, the staff is very helpful. Glorymedicalcenter.com. (Im on the site under pics, but have lost 35 more pounds since that pic was taken) ###-###-####.
