Ever Wish You Had Your Kid's Hair?

Mamas & papas-

My hair is a deep brown black, thick, heavy, coarse, and I have a lot of it. It has a lot of body, and can, sometimes even be wavy. Got my first greys at 29. Mine is undyed, and right now I've got less than 10% grey (which is a very prettty shade of white). Not enough though to be called salt and pepper as yet.

DS has medium brown curly ringlets which look auburn, and even blonde in the light. I'd love to have his hair. Don't think though that any amount of coaxing is going to have my heavy hair take on wispy curly ringlets.

Have any of you done to the salon to have your hair dyed to match your kids, or to a color inspired by your kids color? how'd it turn out? My cousin, who has deep brown hair, was for a while wearing hers a more auburn shade inspired by her kids. She has milky white skin though so her undertones allowed her to pull it off.

Wondering if you've felt this way, if you've acted on it, and how it turned out.
thanks,
F. B.

My daughter has long straight blonde hair. But not the kinda blonde that's golden, it's almost white! Everybody comments on it. Kids at school say when the sun hits it she looks like she's wearing a halo! LOL
I have blonde hair, but not nearly that light. I wouldn't mind having her hair. But, I would never even attempt it. Mostly because I couldn't bring myself to spend the money it would cost. And I'm too busy to keep up on it.
The other day we were at the DMV in the bathroom and my daughter was brushing her hair into a ponytail. A lady of middle-eastern descent with dark thick hair was admiring her hair. She asked me in a thick accent if it was REALLY her hair color and I said yes. (cause I'd really bleach my kids hair?!). She looked impressed and then asked me if my hair color was real too? I said yes. She turned to the mirror, stroked her own hair, and just sighed.... LOL

Me and my middle kiddo have a head full of Dreadlocks.

I only got mine in the last few months......he has had his since he was four.

We call ourselves the ''Rasta Pasta's''.......his are baby blonde and mine are mommy grey:)

His inspired me to finally buckle down to do mine:) So yes, I have used my children for hair inspiration:).....His were something that came more naturally.......He has curly curly hair....and so to dread it, we just left it alone and let it do its thing:)

We look awesome standing next to each other:) I can not wait until he has locks down to his bum bum. Right now they are down by his shoulder blades......So his dreadlocks are pretty awesome and formed:)

Funny question, I never thought I would ever have a response too:)

My daughter is half mexican and has a very deep brown hair color that is smooth as can be. I LOVE it! My other daughter got more of my hair texture which is crazy, wild, thick and wavy. Her and I can put gel in our hair and have a nice wavy look for the day. My other daughters hair is so smooth and silky it doesn't even hold a curl very long. (She hates that part)

I tell my daughter I want her silky smooth hair all the time! But I'll never be able to get it. So its not much about the color but the texture that I want. (Sorry probably didn't help your question at all....but I do envy my daughters hair!)

My daughter has light brown, wavy hair with natural caramel highlights. She also has two cowlicks at the back of her head which makes her hair bump up just a bit - you know, how people tease their hair at the crown to give more body? Yeah, she has that naturally. She wears her hair long in layers, so those curls really hang nicely. All in all, rolling out of bed, she has the kind of hair people pay hundreds of dollars for. I call it her "soap opera hair" - always looks done, always gorgeous. I (along with most female members of my family) am severely jealous of that head of hair.

She hates it, of course. She wants long, straight, blond hair with no body that simply hangs. That's what *I* had as a kid, and of course, I hated it. I wanted wavy light brown hair with caramel highlights...still do.

I and my son are natural blondes- straight and stringy hair. My daughter has this honey brown hair that is naturally wavy and falls in those baby doll ringlets. So gorgeous- but she won't let me do a thing with it- not a bow or barrette, nothing! lol
I have played around with my hair color over the years, and I look pretty stupid with any other hair color. My eyebrows are blonde also, so unless I want to dye them darker, I look crazy with darker hair. I guess I can only go lighter. :(

I have pale blond hair naturally, and I actually dye it a few shades darker (though it's still pretty much light blond).

My older daughter has hair to die for (to dye for? haha). It's dark auburn, with big, fat curls, and super thick in volume, yet fine in texture. (AND even though she's a redhead, she tans! HOW did she get that lucky?!) My mom actually has taken her to the salon on a number of occasions and has told the colorist to match my daughter's color. It turned out beautifully! (My mom's hair is very dark naturally, but has lightened in recent years due to gray hair growing in.) I haven't ever been tempted to go auburn, because I don't think my skin tone is right for it.
