Has anyone on this board had the Essure done?? I am thinking of getting it done, as I do not want anymore children. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Please if you are going to have this done make sure that you are not allergic to Nickel. If you do not know then you will need to have an allergy test done to determine this. The devices used are made of nickel and if you are allergic you DO NOT want to have it done. I was going to have that procedure done and found out I was allergic to nickle and couldn't. I opted for Mirena. I have had it for 3 months now and have no complaints.

I had mine done at my 6wk post pardom checkup. Since I was breastfeeding and didn't want to have to pump and dump I did it without the pain pill they give you and it was not bad. I had some cramping and feeling blah after but I was ok. Take the meds for menstral cramping and you should be fine. I know that BCBS covers it. I go back in June for the follow up dye test but I have not had any problems so far. Just make sure you stay on Birth control for the time between the procedure and the followup. If you are planning on oblasion you have to have this done first, you cant do this after oblasion or if you have only 1 tube you cant have it done. Good luck deciding. I didn't want any more cuting since I have had knee surgery and All three kids I tore, so I was happy to find this procedure.

Just make sure you have some good pain killers for the first day. I only had bad pain 1 day and the bleeding was not bad, totally gone in 3 days.

I just went to my ob/gyn for my yearly and asked about this. He did not recommend it he said they are having some problems with it. He actually recommended for me a day/surgery tubal. I havent completly decided yet but the thought of more children is something at my age I am not willing to have. Good Luck I will watch to see what you decide.

My husband is adamently opposed to the big "V", so I had it done it October. Aside from some bad cramping and bleeding for a couple of days, it was a piece of cake. I was back to normal activities w/in 48 hrs. I have a co-worker that recovered even quicker, but apparently I had more cramping and bleeding than she did. I had to wait 3 months and then go get a special sonogram where they confirmed that the tubes were closed properly and then I got my all-clear. If you've been to the essure website it explains everything pretty much like it happened to me. It was minimally invasive & super quick recovery and now I don't have to take anything or worry about getting pregnant. I highly recommend it!! If you have any more questions PM me and I'd be happy to answer them.

btw- Insurance should cover it, but it depends how your policy is written and what contract they have w/ your Dr. My co-worker and I have the same insurance, but I had to have mine as outpatient surgery instead of at my Dr.s office and had to pay for it out of pocket. I've been going to my Dr. for 8 1/2 yrs though so there was no way I would've had anyone else do it.

I had the Novasure procedure (edimetrial ablation) done 2 years ago in August. I don't know if they're the same thing but mine was simple. I had to wear panty liners for about 2 1/2- 3 weeks for healing discharge but other than that it was nothing. Highly recommend it.
