Entertainment for Weekends with Grandsons.

thanksgiving point has a children's garden. it has a noah's ark that sprays water. the deepest part would go up to the boys' bellies when sitting in it. tons of fun for little ones. there's also things to look at, coy fish, bear cave and a little playground. it's about $5 for s and less for children, free for 3 and under (i believe)

The living planet aquarium, while too expensive for it's size, is still a fun family day. I have been wanting to visit Discovery Gateway. The Bean Life Science Museum has a lot of stuffed wild animals and such and is free. I got my ideas from www.uvmag.com - click on the May/June magazine and starting on Page 46-47 (link at the bottom) there is an article entitled "99 Days of Summer". Have fun!

Another fun thing to do that I didn't see mentioned is the Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. The tickets are about $3 and they have pony rides for even the littlest kids. Your 4 year old grandson might like to feed the animals, too. They just have a cute little area to walk around and see the different farm animals.

There are a lot of fun and educational places to go in Ut.county. Look in your phone book for ideas. Usually there are recreation sections. Your grandchildren are pretty little, so I would suggest things that don't require a long attention span. Thanksgiving point has a children's garden that is a lot of fun to run around in. There is also a dinosaur museum there. Trafalga has a lot of fun stuff to do.BYU has the Monty Bean museum with more dinosaur, etc. stuff. They also have hands on work shops for kids.Then there is the Heber Creeper.It is a ride on a steam engine. The ride might be a little long for your boys, but you can decide that.Then there is the SceraPark Pool . It has a plunge pool, play structures, splash pad, and a sand play area, to mention a few. Also, there is 7 peaks water park. These are just some of the things available. I tried to list the ones that would appeal to the younger set. have fun!

Another great idea is to go to www.utahkidsclub.com and sign up for their pass. It costs $12 per month, but you get great discounts to places all over Utah, you'll probably get your money's worth the first time you use it!

I also live in utah county, we have a 1 and 3 year old. we like to visit the pet store (we like animal ark) we also like the aquarium (living planet, on 106th). hope that helps!

the Aquarium in Sandy is great for kids that age

My sister bought me a book called "Fun with the Family Utah". It has everything you could think of and a bunch that I would never have thought of. Some of the ideas in Central Utah are Fish Lake, Capitol Reef, Goblin Valley, Alpine Loop, Nebo Loop, Provo River, Cascade Springs, Timpanogas, Heber Valley Railroad, John Hutchings Museum, Thanksgiving Point, Trafalga Fun Center, Classic Skating, Springvilles State Fish Hatchery and Game farm, Cleveland Lloyd dinosaur Quarry, Goblin Valley State Park, etc. These are just a few in Central Utah, there are a bunch more. My kids have all loved going to the Bean Museum at BYU -- lots of taxidermy. They love to go bowling, too -- they have these racks now that small children can roll the balls down to get more momentum. They might be a little young for this, but there is a place in Orem called Nickelcade, an arcade where all the games are a nickel. Kangaroo Zoo is great for all ages, it's a bunch of inflatables that they jump on. The dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point is always popular with kids of all ages as well. Kids always love swimming! The Scera pool is a fun one. Another place my kids really enjoy is Bridal Veil Falls -- park at the bottom and walk up to the falls and play in the water (it's cold!). Or just take them to a park or out to lunch at McDonald's. My in-laws take the kids on grandparent dates and I think spending time together is more important than the specific activity.
