Enfamil A.R. Lipil

Hi Ladies,
Does anyone else have a problem w/ mixing Enfamil A.R. Lipil Powder? (the one made to reduce spitting up) I used to use to powder for Lipil w/ Iron and had no problem but now it keeps clumping up into big chunks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks Ladies for all your suggestions. For now I went and stocked up on the ready to use formula... Decided if we ever run out of it then we'll use the powder and I think I'll do what some of you recommended, make it in a blender for the day.

We used it and the powder did not help her spit up. We changed to the liquid (pre-made) AR and it was great. It is a little more expensive but it was worth it for us. Good Luck!

I tried that formula for the first time over the weekend and had the same problem. Then I saw on the can it says to let it sit for five minutes before giving. I shook it really well, let it set, then shook it again. Then it was fine.

I didn't use that, but I did use an organic formula that was hard to mix up. Do you have a hand blender? That's what I would use- I actually just blended up a pitcher full every other day and then I'd fill up the bottles from the pitcher. Made life a lot easier. There was no shaking up the bottle with our formula. Hand blenders are very handy (excuse the pun). Not to be confused with a regular blender- who wants to wash that every other day? Hand blender is much easier to wash.

Put the Powder in first, then stir while you add the water.

Do you know anyone who sells Pampered Chef? I used the "mini-whipper" to mix formula & it worked great. Just a little stainless steel tool w/ a little spring on the end--and pretty inexpensive:

Are you heating the water before adding formula?
That's they way I do it for my son....another thing to try if your not already is add the water first then the formula.
Also, try shaking the bottle back and forth really good instead of up and down.

If you're already doing all those then I'm not exactly sure what else to tell you. I know it's just a thicker formula so it's going to be harder to mix well.
I did use it on my son for about 4 months and never had that problem.

Congrats on your new little boy.

Yes, we had major problems with that. And I started to notice that it was usually towards the end of the can each time, maybe because it was all packed down at the bottom. We would usually put 6 oz. of hot water, then add the formula and mix it up with a fork really well, and then add a couple of ice cubes to bring it up to 8 oz. That usually worked for us.

Good luck. We loved Enfamil AR Lipil, but that was our one problem with it.

I use this same formula and have never had a problem with it clumping up. Are you putting the water in first then the formula? I just put in the water then formula and shake it up real good. It has never been an issue. Good Luck. Maybe you got a bad can or something.

are you adding it to warm water or cold? i know warm water will make it clump..... i have six childrens but its been a while... good luck www.athomebusiness.myarbonne.com L.

Yes. We used a blender and it worked great for us! You can make it in a big batch for the whole day and keep in the fridge for up to 24 hrs.
