Endometrial Ablation??

My doctor has recommended that I get an endometrial ablation due to heavy bleeding and cramping with my cycles. I was wondering if anyone else has had this procedure done and if so, how has it affected your cycle and sex life.

This may be tacky, but I enjoy frequent orgasms with my husband and don't know that I am willing to give them up. I have read conflicting information on websites regarding the subject.

Thanks.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I am in process of scheduling it. I'm still a little aprehensive, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

I had an ablation last June. The first month was great, but after that every period lasted a little longer. I ended back right where I was after 6 months. I ended up have a partial hysterectomy. It is wonderful!

Best thing that ever happened to me.I also had a bladder sling done at same time. I had a moderate to light discharge for 6 weeks post op. Then BINGO! I have not had a period in 3 years. I am using some estrogen gel now. THe ablation did not affect my sex life. Better probably as do not have hheavy painful flow 2-3 weeks of the month. I am 48 years old.

I had the Nova Sure procedure done two years ago and it was the best thing I did. I know after the Novasure procedure you can carry a baby so you may want to think about if you want anymore children. I had a tubal after the birth of my daughter, so it wasn't an issue for us. My doctor said this is a solution for 7-15 years and then we will probably need to figure something else out. I haven't had a period since I had this done which is great! As far as the sex, I can't say becuase after the birth of my daughter, my sex drive has dried up and I am still waiting for it to come back. My husband is a saint! I highly recommend the NovaSure procedure if you are done having children.

I did it, no regrets. No problems. I have recommended it to my friends who are no longer going to have children.

Good luck.

I had Endometrial Albation 4 years ago. It has not effected my sex life in the slightest. I have no periods at all either. My doctor told me that a precentage of patients would have to have it re-done after two years if their periods returned, but mine never did.

If I would have known how wonderful the procedure was, I would have had it done in 1997!

I have had it done twice. My lining grew back the first time. it was the best thing that I ever did. You do not bleed, you can tell that you still cycle but no bleeding!!!! YEAH!!!! Otherwise you cannot tell any difference of any kind. Does not effect sex in any way.

I had an ablation 3 yrs ago and it worked for about 5 months then I had to have a hysterectomy. Since the hysterectomy my sex life has been better than ever.

I had an endometrial ablation done last December for pretty much the same reason - I was having a period every two weeks, cramping so hard that I doubled over, and bleeding through my clothes every hour.

If you are planning to have more children, don't do it. I'm 43, so more children wasn't on my agenda anyway.

I have to say that I have ZERO regrets about it. The first week or so after, I had some spotting and cramping, but the cramps were very mild. After that, no bleeding, no cramping, no PMS, nothing.

And it's not tacky to want to maintain your sex life. I have always had a pretty high sex drive, and the procedure didn't change that in the slightest. I still get horny, I still get wet, and I still have multiple orgasms. Sex is every bit as good as it was before.
