I am in a similar situation as you are in that I don't like my job and want to do something different. I'm an accountant and I currently put in about 50 hours a week, which leaves little free time to spend with my two boys. I knew that once they get to school, I wanted to be a part of their classroom parties and field trips and there was just NO way my career path would allow for that much flexibility.

I did some research and found a company that offers positions from home. It's not a "Get Rich Quick" deal by any means but many moms like us started with this company on the side and then eventually are able to quit their FT jobs and strictly work from home. That's my goal!

This doesn't have anything to do with being a nanny, but it is something I started into last year that might interest you. I am an independent distributor for Premier Designs Jewelry. It is a line of High Fashion Jewelry and you sell it to people by having shows in their home. If you are looking for something that is rewarding and fun, this is definitely a possibility. I'm so sorry that nobody is being of help to you. This must be so frustrating when you really want to be a NANNY! A nanny people, not jewlery seller and agencies don't work right now or sales for that matter because we are in a recession, you know.
If you never have been, Take a CPR class with your local fire department because families look for that and go to these cites: Care.com sitterslink.com craigslist.com under education, enannysource.com and make up a profile about yourself and you will get responses. You can even advertise in your paper but the more babysitting references you have the better. Good luck

Home based business are good for family time. They do require some work and some start up money, but if you are willing to give.. you will get something out of it.

Where are you located? I have a great resource - Jessica Fritz at employment solutions. She interviews you and then finds you a job that matches what you are looking for (not necessarily nanny), but maybe something you would be happy with as well. She works with alot of moms finding them placement to suit their needs. You don't pay her but the company that she places you in does....so it works out nicely.
As far as nanny goes -- maybe put an ad on craigslist....or a classified. People are looking for that type of thing. I just don't know the best way to get the word out...safely.
