Embarrassing Vaginal Problem

I am almost 33 weeks pregnant with a very large baby boy (doc thinks he will be 11 lbs at birth). I noticed yesterday something that looked like a hemmerhoid protruding out of my vagina. I googled and learned there is no such thing as a vaginal hemmerhoid. What could this be? I also ran across "rectocle" but don't have any of the symptoms. It feels like my insides are coming out! Could it be the baby is just so big it's pushing things out?? I am scared and embarrassed. My obgyn appt isn't until Wednesday. Has anyone experienced this???

What can I do next?

Hi M., when this happened to me, it was my bladder, my baby was 9lbs and 23 1/2 inches long at birth.

I agree with calling the doctor. However, I have something very similar to this. I'm only 24 weeks along but my bladder is prolapsed down.

They don't call them vaginal hemorrhoids, but they DO exist! It's basically what a hemorrhoid is -just in your vagina. They refer to them as vericose veins -like the ones you can get on your legs. One of my friends had one with her last pregnancy. They pop out from pressure.

I agree with Allison.. could be a swollen vericose vein. I have had it with all three of my pregancies.

But, call the Dr. in the am just to make sure.

Good luck and Congrats on baby

Call your OB right now... they will probably either send you to, or meet you at the ER.

It could be many things... prolapse being one of the most dangerous (prolapse can actually be MANY things... including your bladder or uterus "falling out".

Hi M. - It could be a couple of things - a varicose vein or even your pelvic floor giving way to a heavy baby and what your seeing is your bladder, etc.

Make sure you talk to your doc about it at your appt on Wed. They can examine and tell you what's happening. If it's accompanied by any bleeding, call your doc ASAP.

congratulations on your pregnancy!

Call your Doctor, before Wed. Just because your appointment is then, does not mean you cannot call them nor see them earlier.
Ultimately, only your Doctor can tell you what it is.
He/she will have to see it.

Call the Dr.'s office tomorrow morning explain to them what is going on and ask them if they want you to come in right away to be checked or wait until your reg. appt. time.

I wish you the best.

you probably already have this answer but go to the doctor to check it out--it is likely vaginal prolapse. it can be pushed back in. good luck.

Do you have other children? I got an ugly protrusion from birthing my daughter. The doctor said it is a bit of scar tissue. I can imagine that if I had a second child, the protrusion would protrude more and be a bit more noticeable. Perhaps you are just noticing something that was already there. This might not be your issue, but just thought I would throw it out there as a possibility.

Sounds like varicose veins...I had them with all 4 of mine (even when I was quite thin and in great shape...in my case, it's more hereditary than anything else...my mom had them)...eventually they get excruciatingly painful...a support belt helps...I don't know that I would have been willing to endure the discomfort of the belt, had I not already experienced the miserable pain of the varicose veins. I don't know a whole lot about the other things people have suggested (you may want to call your doctor, JUST IN CASE)...but....it does sound a LOT like what I experienced. If it does turn out to be varicose veins...let me know...I might be able to give you a few suggestions of things that helped me survive the times I've had them :).

I would call your OB. and ask him if you can be seen today instead of tomorrow. It could be nothing but if it's something you would want to know and not wait. One of the mamas wrote about Cord Prolapse, which happened to me with my first child. So just be better safe then sorry.

Good Luck!!

I had an 11lb 6oz boy in June and I had the same thing. A weird bubble looking thing from my insides. I was too embarrased to ask what it was but it was so obvious that I figured if there was a problem my ob would've said something. It went away after birth. Good luck!
