Does anyone know where I can get a replacement seatbelt harness for an Eddie Bauer car seat? It was given to me, but the 5 point harness was missing. I looked online and at Target (they have the seat, but no extra parts), but I've found nothing. It's a great car seat and I would hate to not use it! Please help!

What can I do next?

Call Cosco/Dorel with the model number of the seat. They will usually send you safety equipment for free, and will also be able to tell you if the seat has been recalled. You can get an instruction book for the seat as well.

I called Eddie Bauer and their customer service rep was kind enough to give me an 800 # to call for replacement parts. I will give you the number. I can't tell you if they can help since I am waiting for a call back right now. But the number is 800-544-1108. Good luck. I agree it is a shame to have to through away a good car seat because you can't find parts.

You can check the carseat on the back or bottom to see who manufactured it, my EB carseat was by Cosco and then go online to their website and find replacement parts. They have a good site where you put in the model # and can choose everything from owners manual to a new seat cover.

That's not usually a part that is available off the shelf. You'll probably need to contact the manufacturer Dorel (aka Eddie Bauer, Cosco and others).

I would double check that there is no recall on that seat either. That manufacturer has had several recalls over the years.

Personally, I would bite the bullet and buy a new car seat. I had this brand carseat after my first child outgrew his carseat. After reading all the horror stories about the company and how they waited to do recalls, I decided to to take a chance with my children's lives. I bought Britax Marathon seats for all my children (I have 3). A big investment, but well worth the peace of mind.

No car seat manufacturer has been recall free, but I know that Britax immediately resolved their harness issues by being proactive. They sent out all the replacement parts rather than wait for consumers to call them first.

I would suggest checking the carseat first. Most carseats expire after 5 years, a few go to 6 years, check the manual. If it has not expired then I would contact the manufacturer.

I know Babies R Us sells them (that's where I got mine). They may have them, or know how to get them. I'd check there.

Good luck.

You could try contacting the manufacturer. Probably the info is on the internet. I was able to obtain a new harness for my Graco carseat this way, some years ago. In fact, they sent it to me free, since they said the old ones had some problem & they issued a recall.
