Hi moms,,
I have always and forever had super sensitive skin. I have dealt with break outs and eczema my whole life! UGH! Lately, my eczema (on my face) has been a lot worse. Where it used to flare up when my allergies were bad (seasonal)only above my lip and on the bridge of my nose, now it is all along my jaw line, and above my eyebrows. I have not made any major changes in make up or skin care. I have seen a dermatologist in the past month and tried a medicated cream...NO HELP at all. I am going back to see her tomorrow. Just wondering if any of you have dealt with this and had success with anything. I am wondering if I need to see an alternative medicine doc or eastern medicine doc that can help me from the inside out. Any ideas welcome!!

What can I do next?

It sounds odd that it is flaring up so much right now.

My daughter had eczema pretty badly on her legs and feet until she was about 5. It just got better each year. Now it is primarily on her toes and feet.

The 1 thng she finds most helpful right now at flare ups is calamine lotion ( which is not something I'd put on my face)

We see Dr Allen Menter at the downtown Baylor area. He is one of the best dermatologists and skin disorder specialist in the country. Very worthwile seeing him.

Best wishes to you and I hope yoy find your solution soon.

I'm sorry you're so miserable. I have 2 daughters, 12 1/2 and 1 1/2. My 12 yr. old grew out of her eczema, but my 1 1/2 yr. old has it much worse. My sister has been a great help to me. Her 5 yr. old son has been riddled w/ this problem since he was 3 mos. old. It has been so difficult to get under control. He's allergic to everything! Recently she heard about a connection between gluten and eczema. There is a disease called Celiac's Disease. People that suffer from it are extremely sensitive to gluten (ex. wheat, flour, bread, pasta, etc). She has taken her son off of all foods that contain gluten and he is doing better than ever! So, I tried it with my 1 yr. old, and I saw an immediate improvment. I don't think that she has Celiac's Disease, but I certainly think that she is sensitive to gluten. You might try adjusting your diet to include fresh fruits and vegitables, rice, corn, lean meat. I wish you well.

My daughter (3yr old) has eczema, but it is so much better now thanks to her new dermatologist. She receives injections about every 9 months(it lasts just that long). Before we started the injections, her eczema was awful. She scratched and bled in the folds of her elbows, back of knees and eyelids. The eyelids don't itch, you can just see the dryness and I use Cococare and that has helped. Whenever she itches or I see a new place on her body that has those eczema patches, we use Mometasone Furoate Cream and this has been the best topical cream we ever used because we have had our share. Within 2-3 days of using this cream, the outbreak is gone. Her dermatologist also prescribed Oregon Grape Root supplement. The supplement is to help start the healing from within. So far, I'm satisfied and my Ladybug is itch free!

Hope this helps.

Are you sure that you need doctors or medicine? First of all, change your water. You and your family need ionized, alkaline, micro-clustering Kangen water. Check www.kangen4everyone.com. It brings back health, energy, young look. It's amazing!

May or may not apply to you, but thought I'd share just in case :) My eczema (which I only just found out that was what it was) used to be seasonal. It got much worse after my son was born and never went away. Turns out I had developed hypothyroidism which increases allergies. There is an interesting site on it www.stopthethyroidmadness.com where you can see if you have any of the other symptoms. Its really common in our area because it can be caused by fluoride in the water and our area has over 40 times the safe level in the water and filters don't get it out. For more on fluoride you can go to www.fluoridealert.org

I have started on Naturethroid and it seems to be helping some.

Sorry to hear you are so miserable. So many people are allergic to products they are using and unfortunately doctors only try to put a band aid on the problem with creams that don't really work.
If you have not already tried Melaleuca I suggest you try them out. Their Renew lotion has helped so many with eczema and their products are great for sensitive skin.
I know you have tried a lot but this is worth a look, my friends son had eczema so bad his skin would bleed and since making the switch to Melaleuca he has had no more outbreaks.
