Ectopic Pregnancy - Clairton,PA
Back in November I had to get the methotrexate shot - it was a nightmare, my 10 1/2 month old ( at the time, now he's 13 months old ) was still nursing aso he had to be abruptly weaned....so, my hcg levels go all the way down to 17 by the beginning of December - well on December 5 - I develop this terrible pain in my stomach, my back, I end up in the emergency room - they send me home, saying they don't know whats wrong, and tell me to get a sonagram the next day - I go in for the sonagram, I have internal bleeding, my fallopian tube had ruptured....they rush me in for an emergency lapro(Something) they removed the tube.....all is okay now. Everything went so fast i didn't have time to grieve over losing a pregnancy....after my surgery was done, i had to get Anthony's (my now almost 1 year old at the time) ready for 1st birthday party, cause we went all out, then christmas then new years, then about 2 weeks ago, it hit me...I may not be able to have another baby....I'm missing parts and pieces....I'm very nervous - it's nothing I want to do right away, but I would like to know that when I decide to - maybe next summer when my son is 2 1/2 - to get pregnant - but i'm scared if I wait I may be wasting valuable time.....I don't know what to do - I've read and been told my chances of conceiving are anywhere between 40%-60%....that's kinda scary - any one else out there missing pieces? Any success stories?
So What Happened?™
I Wanted to thank all of you for your stories and support. Your responses really filled me with hope!! I will let you all know how it goes when we start trying. We plan to start trying after we get back from Mexico in May. Then it's on!!!

I had a ectopic pregnancy when I was about 19. It is not a fun thing to have, I am sorry you had to go through it. After waking up from a week of morphine induced sleep, I finally found out what happened, because when I went in I was bleeding profusely and they had to perform emergency surgery.
But anyway....I am sure you will be able to have as many more children as you want. I have had two wonderful children since then (one of which, I got pregnant with while receiving the depo shot). I was too told that my chances of getting pregnant were slim since the surgery, but I now I tend not to listen to their statistics. All they did was take the tube......the ovaries and eggs are still there. I hope everything works out for you.

My mother-in-law had her tubes tied after her third child...three years later my husband was born. That's just proof that anything is possible!

Don't give up hope! I had an ectopic pregnancy when my son was 3. I didn't miss a period, so I never knew anything was wrong until I started having *severe* abdominal pain! I thought I had appendicitis, but an ultrasound showed I had a large ectopic pregnancy that had grown over my left fallopian tube and ovary. It had cause internal bleeding, which was the cause of a lot of my pain. Emergency surgery removed the ectopic pregnancy and I recoved fairly quickly. It wasn't until the next year when my husband and I started talking about having another child that I realised how difficult it might be for me to become pregnant. I worried more with every month that went by when I *still* wasn't pregnant. As much as it seemed like it took forever for me to get pregnant, in reality, it was only six months! My advice it to talk about your concerns with your OB/GYN...mine was very helpful and basically told us to "give it a year" of trying things the "old-fashioned way". I'm fairly young and in good health...if nothing happened after a year, she would consider discussing fertility treatment options, but at the time, she didn't think they were necessary. I would definitely tell you that you probably don't have anything to worry about, but your doctor can answer your questions and put your fears to rest far better than I can! Best of luck to you and your husband when you do deciede to try for your next baby!

Get the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wenschler (Check the spelling I think it's wrong). The book is a wealth of information about your whole reproductive system and what signs your body gives you when you're fertile. Having had that 1 tube removed simply makes it more important to know what your body is telling you. You're still a whole person- even if you are minus a tube. You still have LOTS of chances to be pregnant again. I think doctors sometimes are too bleak. They see the science of the body and foget about the beauty and the intellect of their patients. I'm not overly religious, but I do believe in some sort of higher power and 'divine intervention' is an awesome thing! Doctors don't treat the spiritual parts of us. Clearly, from your posts, you are a very caring and lovely mother and wife. You've got a lot of love to go around and someday, when you're really ready and all planned out, you'll be pregnant again. Give yourself sometime to heal because you've had a VERY hard year. Get some good birth control, have some fun, relax, read your new book, and dream, plan and have fun! You've got great people in your life already-concentrate on loving them up and having fun with them. Once your body is healed from all this trauma, then think about how to make sure you make another little one!
Good luck and know you're not alone in all this-

My mother became pregnant with me with half an ovary and one fallopian tube. I hope that gives you hope!
And know it is normal to grieve like this. Take some time and be gentle with yourself.

I had my tubes tied after my last baby in 1997,then after a few years of being depressed I found out about a Tubal-Ligation-Reversal.(but 1st i had to get my medical info on when my tubes were tied. That's when i found out she cut 1 of my tubes kinda short for the cause and some scar tissue, but I was able to get the Tubal Ligation Reversal and I had to take these pills?(i forget the name) but when i took them the doc told me if i got pregnant using this(CLOMID) ha i remember!! that it's possible to have multiple births. You also have to take clomid to help regulate the period,so clomid has to be taken some where around your period. Anyway I did manage to get pregnant 10 months after the tubal reversal, but for the 1st time in any of my 11 pregnancies, this little fella decides to take a short-cut through my tubes also & I had to get a shot of Methotrexate to clean out the little fella by letting the body to re-absorb it.
After that I checked around & found interesting info from the learning channel/Life time channel? (which ever one shows the babie specials & the different Obg/yn's & Midwives.about using certain herbs to get pregnant. I wrote them all down somewhere in my room,(cant find when you need it! but in your face when you don't want it! Thats if you use herbs,if not then I won't push the info on you. (just let me know) my name is S. Mother of large family in philly.
