On Easter I will be 11 1/2 weeks pregnant. We haven't told our families yet and want to tell them that day. We will be having family gatherings with most of our siblings on each side and are looking for some cute ways to announce to everyone.
A little background, we have 2 children, 6 and 4, and have been trying for this one for 3 years, everyone knows that we have been trying and that we have had fertility problems. My sister-in-law did an easter egg hunt a couple of years ago to announce one of her pregnancies, so that is pretty much out.
Any fun ideas you have would be great! Thank you so much!

I'm not the most creative person, but maybe you could have an Easter Bunny person come and want to give a gift to the expectant mother, and you say, "Oh, that'd be me!" Or something else along those lines.
Congrats!

Send an Easter card that says something about having eggs-cellent news, and that you are eggs-pecting.

How absolutely appropriate to announce your pregnancy on a day that celebrates reproduction! That is what the Easter egg represents! How cute. Hmm...You could tell a cultural diversity story, and explain that beyond the resurection of Christ, there is other meaning to Easter that is not as widely known, like fertility and reproduction, and new life. Then at the end of your story tell them why it is significant for you, because you are pregnant.

Here's a link that explains it in detail.

You could do little Easter baskets with a pair of booties, a pacifier and a piece of paper with the due date on it in them for each family set.
We did similar for our 4th of July announcement, except I put the stuff in little red and blue gift bags.

I agree with the last suggestion, on easter egg hunts. You could either use the plastic eggs or real eggs and write clues on the eggs. You could write numbers 1,2,3,....until 9 on eggs, write your due date on another, #3 (for child #3), name ideas...have fun with it and congrats!

This idea depends on whether the gathering is formal or not. If it's not (T-shirts and jeans-type) then you can make a couple of T-shirts that say it all. Maybe one for big sister/brother that says "I'm going to be a big sister/brother" or "I'm going to have a little sister or brother." My sister did an announcement for her baby by decorating a shirt that said something about being a mom, and she took a pacifier, cut off the nipple and sewed it to the shirt over her belly button. That way it kind of stuck out and drew attention so people would actually read the shirt. You could also do one that has a picture of an oven over your belly that says "Bun in the Oven" or something. If you don't want to do a shirt, you could make up a cute little card (like a 3x3 square of cardstock or something similarly small) for each person or family you want to tell that says something cute on it (baby on the way, little one coming, etc) and have your older children go around handing out the card to each person throughout the day. Maybe put each person's name on it and yours so they all get one and all know who it's from. You could do that same idea with easter eggs. Maybe get some of those baby shower novelties (like mini pacifiers, mini plastic babies or bottles, etc) and put those in the egg, and have the kids hand an egg full of "new baby" stuff to each family. I'm sure I have tons of other ideas if you want more. Just email if you do. Congrats! and Good luck!

What about maybe taking a picture of the two kids holding a sign that says "We are going to have a new brother or sister!" Blow it up to about an 8x10 and place it somewhere.

If your family opens Easter baskets together, you could put some T-shirts in your kids' baskets that say something like "big sister/brother in training." I got a great little matching set off of cafepress.com when I announced my third pregnancy. They also have some really cute shirts for the kids that say "I have a secret." Your kids could wear that and just wait for people to ask them. Just be prepared - if you go the T-shirt route, people may not notice. Daddy noticed right away when the kids' opened their shirts on Christmas morning, but it took hours for anyone to notice our kids' shirts at Christmas dinner! Congratulations, and enjoy the upcoming months.

Best of luck,

There's no reason why you can't do the Easter Egg hunt, just because someone esle did a few years ago. You don't have to be original. And immitation is the best sort of flattery. Other than that, you've also got some really cute ideas here.

Baby chicks with a bow and a note that says you're having a new chick of your own? Only "Easter" thing that came to mind.

Have an item that represents the begging of each letter in the word "expecting", like "Easter" is a special time of year. The "X" represents the cross that Jesus died on. "Presents" are sometimes given to those we love to represent his gift of the resurection, "Everyone" - who God's gift is fore. "Candy" represents the sweetness we feel that Christ overcame death,... you get the idea. You can put it all in a basket, make a treasure hunt, play a game, whatever you want. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

You could give the grand parents/ family little candy bars that are rewrapped in the baby news or you could have your children have shirts on that announce your news like " I'm going to be a big brother" Have fun! I love surprises.

We always do a treasure hunt for the Easter baskets. It would be fun to set one up and split your family into two teams to see who finds the basket first and then hide a basket with a chick, booties, ultrasound pic, etc. and a card announcing your due date.

And heads? Oh, it has two of those.

A New Family Tree.
A fantastic way to announce to your family that there will be a new baby in the family is to give them an updated version of your family tree. There are many great resources where you can buy or download a family tree. Just leave a blank space under yours and your husbands
name and write in pencil your due date. This would make a perfect gift if you had it framed or for those who have scrap booking loved ones, a scrap book page would be perfect!

I found all of these online, maybe one of them will help? you could put the first poem/riddle inside of some of the plastic eggs and pass around, see who gets it first?

Do you do easter egg hunts? Maybe you could put "fortunes" in plastic eggs, one with the announcement, & make sure the lucky grandparents get that one.
