Earth Mama Mother's Milk Tea

If you've used this tea before, how many bags did it take until you noticed an improvement in milk production? The box doesn't give recommended dosages (how many cups to drink), so I'm not sure. Also, has this tea ever caused any of you to start your period (a sort of warning on the box), or at least give you abdominal cramps? Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

i used it and it worked great!!! i was practically dry and had tried everything else!! If i remember correctly that was all i drank using 2 bags per cup besides drinking just water and by the 2nd or 3rd day i was at 2 ounces from each side!!! but you have to stay consistant with your babies feeding whether or not enough is comming out! you can supplement with formula to fill them and then once your milk comes in fully take them off the formula!!

You would be better of getting feenugreek tabs and taking two three times a day. You can also make tea with the capsules. the teabags are all fenucreek too. I think it take a week of drinking 3 cups a day for it to work because it take a week for the fenugreek 2 tabs three times a day to work.

Just want to recommend that you look at www.lowmilksupply.com while you're at it. Also, do you have a LaLeche League Group? You can locate the one nearest you & contact a Leader through www.llli.org if you don't already know that. Good luck!

I'd recommend calling a Lactation Consultant near you. She will be able to help you boost your milk production. Typically, you're steeping teas for 10-15 minutes and having 3 cups a day. The question is how much active ingredient is in the tea bag. Some require more than one tea bag etc.

I'd suggest going for straight fenugreek to boost production as long as you don't have stomach problems or allergies to legumes. An LC can give you the dosage for that -again, it's not the dosage listed on the bottle or dropper. If you need further info, I'd be happy to share it with you off the board. Best of luck, S.

I really liked this tea and had no negative side effects. If you want something stronger my lactation consultant recommended more milk plus capsules by motherlove. It has the same herbs as the tea, but is concentrated. You take 4 a day. They work great! Good Luck

I use Traditional Medicinals Mother's Milk tea, but it should be similar and does have directions. It says to steep one tea bag 10 minutes and to drink 3 to 5 cups daily.

I have been sick and am now really trying to rebuild my supply, so my midwife said to steep 3 tea bags at a time which is what I am doing.

Oops forgot to add that when I took it regularly with no supply issues, I noticed an increase within a day. If you are having supply issues, I would wait a couple of days before expecting an increase.

Should not give you abdominal cramps, but that being said, I suppose there is always the chance you are allergic to one of the herbs.....most of them have dandelion, fenugreek, blessed thistle, etc.

It is a galactalogue....won't cause you to start your period. There might be some raspberry leaf in the brand you are using? That might be the "warning" you speak of.....that can be used to induce labor when drunk in larger quantities...I think you are safe having a cup of the mother's milk tea though a few times throughout the day.

I used a Mother's Milk tea but don't remember what the brand name was. It only took me one cup to notice an increase at first, but then i had to increase the amount to keep it up. I never had any side effects at all. It worked really well and I was able to pump enough while at work when I drank it, something i could not without it.
