Does anyone have any experience with ear stapling for weight loss? Does it really work? Does it hurt to have it inserted in your ear? Any info appreciated.

What can I do next?

I have never done that, but I am currently having very good success with Attain bars and shakes. I also use Access bars before I exercise. They taste great and I love the way Attain bars curve the cravings and I am full a lot longer. The Access bars burn my stored fat while I exercise. If you would like to learn more let me know. I can send you over some information.

yes it hurts and mine got infected within 2 days. I woke up in the night with such pain I had to take them out. My husband is a physician and he said it wouldn't work.

Hi i had the ear stapling done at a doctor office in carrollton and it did not hurt when he put the staple in but after u sit there at the office for a few mins.they start getting tight and he have to loosen them up and when you feel comfortable you can leave but just to let you know it did not work for me and i took them out after a month, they also give you a kit just in case you want to take them out or you have problems i had problems with one of my ears it kept hurting and itching a lot so instead of me going back i just took them out myself and will never do it again, lesson learned.

This has been asked a lot on mamasource and the general consesus is that it hurts and doesn't work. I knew a couple women who tried it as well and said the same thing.

I know several nursing friends that have tried it and have not lost anything but their money. There is little discomfort as I was told. I am also a nurse and believe in non-traditional ways of things, but did not see anything come of this.
I like the South Beach diet. It is pretty strict at first. I have a hard time getting off of sugar, but love the eating part. I lost about 20 pounds over about 6 weeks following it. Then fell off the diet wagon, not because of the diet, but because of our schedule and the fact that the kids ate all my "diet" food. Like my nuts and low fat cheese, and spaghetti squash etc. Then when I wanted to eat there was only their higher calorie food. But it does work. And you are never hungry. I have not had any success with anything that skips a meal. And although the bars and shakes are filling, they do end up having alot of sugar. The first reply suggests products from the Melaleuca company and they are tasty and good. they rival slim-fast shakes and bars. And they are the skipping thing. I liked the south beach because a doctor started it up. It is well balanced without to many weird things to do, like eat cabbage for the first two weeks straight and then only grapefruit. He also talks about mixing your foods to help with digestion. It is also good if you are diabetic, border-line diabetic, or hypoglycemic. I used it for my dad's diabetic teaching to teach him about mixing carbs with fiber and meal size etc. What was appropriate etc. I love that book. I have recently picked it back up and plan to start Monday the 16th. You are welcome to email me if you want to start it with me and be my diet buddy. I can't do the skip thing and I don't think it is pratical, because when you start eating again you put weight back on. I also think that I don't want my kids to see me skip meals anyways, then they will get the idea that that is acceptable. I would rather make a lifestyle change and just eat better.
If you decide you want the book, get the condensed pocket version. It has less testimonials and all the good guts without all the reading. I think you will like it if you would try it. I did not find it so restrictive that it was impossible with 3 sons and a hubby. They mostly eat what i fix and what i eat, hence all my "snacks" gone. But I guess that is a good thing isn't it? that they like all the "healthy" stuff!!!! like whole wheat bread, cheese sticks, nuts, fruit etc. When I have tried the slim-fast shake diet they drink those also. They think they are milk shakes in a can. They love them. Then again, none for me.
Let me know, as I will be starting the sugar withdrawl monday. That will be fun!!! NOT!!! But we must persevere!!
Good luck,
L.
