Where is a good sanitary place to have your child's ears pierced? My daughter is asking for that and we told her that she had to wait until she was five which will be next week. I have read before to have it done at the pediatricians office; however, ours doesn't do that. We called today! Anyways... I know you mamas will be able to help. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

This is going to sound insane but wait and take her to a local piercing/tattoo studio. The reason I say that is it is safer and cleaner than the mall places.

I got my daughters done at 3 months (everyone kept calling her a boy) for like $25-$30 at claires in the mall. they were very sanitary & hers never got infected or anything. plus the bottle of earring cleaner is HUGE so it made it through my new piercing (for about 6 weeks) and hers (about 4 months)

The best place is the mall, Claire's or Ear Piercing Pagoda.

If you are coming into Dallas there is a place in Preston Center where I had my ears pierced back in 1970. I hear it is STILL the place to go, which makes it sound pretty trustworthy. La Lobe

Sweet and Sassy does them and I've had friends give good reviews (I have 2 boys so can't personally vouch for them), there's one at NE Mall and one in Southlake.

I was extremely paranoid about having my daughters done because she has super tiny earlobes. I tried a few piercing shops and they said no, so we ended up at the mall and I went with Piercing Pagoda at Northeast Mall. They were very kind and understanding of my fears and took their time showing me both types of guns and explaining how each of them worked and said if I wasn't comfortable, no problem. After much contemplating, we ended up doing it and have had no problems at all. My daughter did not even flinch or cry for wither ear. We had a great experience.

We went to Claire's in the mall. They actually seemed quite well trained, and everything they used was brand new and we watched them unwrap it. They did a great job; everything healed fine for both of my daughters!

I would contact a trusted jewelry store....not a mall store with teenagers holding one of those ear piercing guns.

I did both of my girls at Piercing Pagoda. I had them do both ears at the same time.

I felt the same way when our daughter got hers pierced at 10. Mine were done at my Dr's office years ago at 13 but Dr's apparently most no longer do piercings our family Dr told me. At age 10, after calling the Dr's office we decided on having our daughters done at Claires at the local mall. It seemed quite safe and clean and certain sales people were trained to piercve properly. We watched carefully that all of the equipment was properly cleaned b4 and things turned out fine. I think the most important part is the cleaning an care afterwards. You will need to teach your daughter the importance of daily cleaning of her lobes with the special solution and cotton balls or q-tips. You need to stay on her about this for 3-4 months until her ears are healed well and then remind her to clean earrings and ears regularly until she is in the habit. How fun for her, good luck

I had mine done first at the Pagoda place they have talked about, but it turns out that the back was put on to tight (don't ask me how. I have no idea) and when my ears were bright red my dad looked and saw that they were tight and had a lovely infection despite my constant cleaning. I even had an imprint of the star shaped earing. It was there for two months. I think a year or two later I got my ears pierced there again and had no troubles. So either I pinched them to tight while cleaning or the lady did when cleaning my ear after the piercing. Who knows. FYI Check to see how tight they are.

this question has been asked before and i remember a lot of people said to go to a tatto parlor (because they have a license which claires doesn't have to have) or the sweet and sassy place. I would check up on what type of earings they are putting in her ears. Mine always got infected because the best earings claires had weren't good enough.

I have many, MANY holes in my ears and have always gone to Claire's or someplace similar. Limited Too used to do piercings and had much cuter piercing studs, but that was many years ago and I don't know if they still pierce or even exist anymore. Good luck!

My daughter had hers done at the Mall. Piercing Pagoda's people are well trained and it's very safe. As well, they did them both at once, which we both appreciated :)

Our pediatrician does it for $35, includes the earrings. Call to see if anyone in your practice does it. Claires or other places in the mall will be closer to $40-$50. Btw, props to you for waiting until she was 5 and able to tell you that she's ready! She can take good care of them and help you clean them!

I have to agree with Patty W. I took my daughter to La Lobe in Preston Center. (At NWHY and Preston right off the tollway) It is a very nice older couple that owns and operates it. They were very sanitary, super nice, and had done it so many times that they knew exactly what they were doing. They did it old school, with the needle rather than the gun but it works just fine. :) They even schedule you for a follow up appt to make sure everything is healing well and to show you how to change them. I was much more comfortable going there rather than some 17 yr old girl at Claire's in the mall. Just my opinion though. :)

We had ours done in a Jewelry store, but it took forever to find one. Other then that, take her to a tattoo & piercing place. =) Good Luck!
