Ear Infection, Prevention

Hello,

I've been fighting with a cold and trying not to get an ear infection. But I'm not sure how much longer I can hold the ear infection at bay. Suggestions on how I can stop the ear from becoming infected?

Added: I am drinking Dan active, taking a multi vitamin, keeping hydrated, staying out of pools etc.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

So far nothing has happened. The 'clogged, but not yet painful feeling' went away. I love the chiro suggestions, just can't afford them. My brother in law is a massage therapist, who seems to know a few things about fixing clogged ears so I guess I just need to drive an hour to his place. If they do get bad again. I also will look into the garlic oil, just in case. Same with the sweet oil.

Thanks!!!

You should go see a chiro. I bet you are out of alignment. Ears become infected when the fluid doesn't drain properly (think about a stagnant pond). An adjustment will enable your ear to drain. And, often, other ailments, like colds can be helped if your nervous system is helped through adjustment. Your spinal cord connects to your entire body through your nerves. If they are pinched or otherwise impaired, things go wrong. Hope you feel better soon! Also, boost your immune system by cutting out all sugar, eating vegies more (garlic especially is good for this), drinking plenty of clean, pure water, getting enough rest, and take Vitamin D.

I agree with going to see the chiro 100%. They seem to do wonders with my ear infections. For some reason being in the proper alignment just seems to help me feel like a million bucks.

I know it sounds strange, but garlic oil drops prevented many "close calls" from becoming full-blown infections in my son. You can get it at GNC or health food stores. Garlic is a natural antibiotic.

See a chiropractor at least 2x / week until you're clear.

Take probiotics and vitamin C to boost your immune system.

Feel better!

I know a lot of people have suggested Chiropractors, but I suffer from chronic sinus infections, have for years now and can't find much relief. The one thing I have found to work and help me out is to go to a spa and get a reflexology massage - they work on your feet at the pressure points and then do a ionic foot bath, I feel SO good after going and doing this, and many people swear by it :) Good luck!

Are you prone to ear infections? Your ears are connected to your sinuses, there's really no 'prevention' if your sinuses are draining into your ears, except getting rid of the cold. Don't smoke or swim, and take something to dry your head up, like Tylenol Severe congestion or Sudafed. Feel better!

The goo in the sinus' has to get out one way or the other. If you are blowing your nose and taking a decongestant you should do better. But an ear infection is not something to put off seeing the doc about if it is hurting go get some meds.

If you have a vibrating massager then take it and run it down the Eustachian tube, start at the bottom of the ear and slowly move down towards the collar bone. This helps it unclog and drain better. Also take a hair dryer and blow the warm air into the ear, not on high speed, just get the heat in the canal. I got these solutions years ago from a book called home remedies.
