Dying to Be a WAHM (Work at Home Mom). Advice Greatly Appreciated!

I have the most beautiful, awesome 9-month-old son. I had planned to be a work-at-home mom, but he was a surprise and arrived before I could get a plan together. I can't seem to figure out how to make enough income for me to stay home AND keep the nanny (so I can actually get work done). I'm hesitant to leave my corporate job (especially in this economy) and the health insurance it provides (my husband's job doesn't offer any). I've been a publicist for 13 years and have great contacts, but only in television/entertainment, which is difficult to do freelance. I would have to make other, off-entertainment contacts, which is difficult to do from home and takes time. I also write editorial & publicity materials, but I can't see that earning enough money at the outset to be profitable. My mother-in-law is a personal trainer and I train her clients from time to time, which could work. But I would be working harder than my current 10a-6p to make enough (around $1500-2000/month). I'm leery of sales -- especially cold calling. I'm very entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, have great ideas, and some government & political contacts from my family’s business. I've visited tons of sites and know about transcription, freelance writing (which I did for a bit, but was too time consuming and only earned $20/article), virtual publicity, etc. but would love to hear from real WAHMs who have actual experience or ideas as to how I can earn money & stay home with my sweet boy (if only until he goes off to school). I'm fine with & capable of doing several jobs simultaneously. Thank you for reading. We both greatly appreciate it!

M.,

Have you heard of Scentsy "Authentic Wickless Candle"? Extremely safe w/ no wick, soot, lead, or flame.

Our warmers are heated by a 25-watt light bulb in a 2-piece warmer, our candle bars are made of a soft wax packed full of incredible scents. With a burn time of 60-80 hours per Scentsy bar (and sometimes more), over 80 scents to choose from, a wonderful selection of warmers, plus car candles and room sprays, there's something for everyone.

Interested in joining my team? Consider this: By the middle of May 2008, we sold over 1.5 million worth of warmers, bars, room sprays, and car candles. That's 495% more than during the same time period in May 2007. That's AMAZING! We also added 698 Consultants in this time period. THAT'S 612% MORE THAN WE HAD JOINED DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD IN MAY 2007! If you are considering a home business, this is a great opportunity for you to get in early with a company that I believe will become a household name! Ask me about MY SPECIAL for anyone interested in BECOMING a Scentsy Consultant in the month of July!

Have a Scent-Sational Day!

Hi M.,

I used to work in the entertainment industry myself until a few years ago and now do a bit of consulting. I've researched a number of 'work from home' opportunities (got scammed on one and put a lot of money into another which never panned out). But I recently came across this new opportunity that I sincerely think looks the most promising.

It's called Aisle 19 and it's FREE. No selling, no fees to join, no products to purchase.

How You Earn Money:
1. Earn cash back by shopping via your own online savings portal from over 600 retailers including: Gap, Old Navy, Macys, Toys R Us, etc.
2. Build unlimited commissions by inviting others (i.e. fellow stay at home moms who do all the shopping in the house) to sign in as shoppers. When they shop via their own portal, they get cash back and you get commissions. When your customers sign on new customers, your commissions grow.

Sign up as many people as you can before the holiday shopping season and you can imagine the potential.

Here's the website:

www.aisle19.com
ID# - 511162

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

WOW! You seem to have plenty of experience. I too was leery of sales and HATE cold calling. I spent months doing research with several companies until I came accross www.creative-cards-4you.com. I have been with sendoutcards for 2 months and already making money, there is no cold calling involve all you are doing is coaching other people to use the system. Please don't hesitate to visit the website and take a tour.

I am 31-year-old and mother of two beutiful daughters, 2years and a 9months old who(I can relate to speed crawling. I love being a WAHM mom is the best!

Best wishes to your success!

Hi M....

I loved reading about you and your baby. I remember those days of no sleep. Mine are now 6/13. I love them dearly. I am able to stay home wwith them and am very excited about it. I am a SAH Travel Agent who makes money everytime someone books travel on my site (including cars...and hotels).

If you want to build a business...you can do that too. I have decided to become a specialist in booking honeymoons and since ppl will probably never stop getting married...or just wanting take a "honeymoon"...it should be quite lucrative.

4 suggestions:

1. If you want to stay in the entertainment industry and it seems like you've got a lot of experience then you could either produce an internet show and have actors buy slots and go and chase advertising. If you've got a strong relationship with advertisers then have them buy ads

2. You have to get the free report about the 20 hottest companies you can start with $500 or less.

3. You absolutely need step by step how-tos like which can be found in the startup bible "$500 Startup". All about starting a company on a tight, tight budget. Online and work from home. Go to the book's website to get both the free report and the book. www.500DollarStartup

4. Take a look at starting a social network like this great website. Monetizes very well with sponsors, ads, events, seminars, products, services etc... The definitive how to video on that is intensive and free by going to
www.ProfitFromSocialNetworks.com

Social networks is the hottest Internet trend as seen in Wall Street Journal, Businessweek etc...
