Dye Free Foods and How to Find Them

I am cutting out dye out of my childs diet. Especially red 40. I know the health food store has plenty of stuff can I can choose, but I was wondering if any of you out there know of any grocery items that contain no dye. Something that you'd find ont he kroger shelves or meijer shelves say??

What can I do next?

Is there a Trader Joe's near you? I'm not sure if there is one near Garden City, but it may be worth taking a drive to one once a month even. Their prices are much more reasonable than Whole Foods and I haven't found dyes in any of their foods. We also don't let our son have dyes or my husband or I for that matter... good for you!

You could probably check out the Meijer organic section, I'd think they would be free of Dyes.

There is a Trader Joe's at 8 mile & Haggerty. Right off the freeway. So it wouldn't be a bad drive from Garden City.

I am just starting the journey of healthy eatting for my family too. I went to Costco the other day and they had a lot of things to choose from. I found some really good fruit leather made by Stretch Island Co., some granola bars by Clif Kids and some Kirkland Brand oatmeal that my kids loved. My kids love Pop Tarts but did not like the organic ones I got from Costco. I went to Meijer too and found their stuff to spread out around the store and a little pricey. I did find some cereal there that my kids loved, Mothers Peanut Butter Bumpers (kinda like Peanut Butter Cap'n Cruch but all natural). My girlfriend swears by Trader Joes, I'm going there next week to do my big shopping. Good luck!

Hi,
I like Kroger's because the have their health and organic isles all together and that makes it easier to find items. Meijers you have to look in each isle but they do have a lot to offer and good prices.
Costco also has a lot of natural/ no perservative/no dyes products to choose from too.
We don't do dyes either. Basically in the beginning you will have to read the labels. You will be SURPRISED and how much dyes are in foods. For me we chose to do organic and that took dyes and perservative out of the picture.
Good Luck you will become a pro at it no time it just takes a little extra shopping time in the beginning.

HI N.
I also love Trader Joes, it's really not so far from our area. I'm able to afford organic foods shopping there too.

Everything at Trader Joes is dye free.
