Wow! I cannot believe how many kids have excema! My children both have it as well - I guess mine aren't the only ones!! My dr. recommends Eucerin like the other moms said, but also says Cortozone (sp?) cream as well. Its an over-the-counter cream. If it still doesn't go away, the dr. can prescribe a stronger cream. But I find the Eucerin and cortozone to work very well as long as I am consistent with it.
Also - warm weather seems to increase the excema.

Use Aveeno for excema baby formula, it is amazing. Also try using aveeno baby wash too, there is a lotion style one that's really nice. You will see a change almost immediately. I have a 7 1/2 month old little girl too and have had the same problem with her-no flakes just dry, rough patches. Whenever I put some of the lotion on her (espescially her cheeks-I think from food and water getting on her face) it goes away pretty quickly. Good luck!

Try a hypoallergenic, fragrance free lotion. It wont irritate the skin so much. Tip:Go to a store that will have a big selection of lotions, kinda hard to find a lotion both HA and frag-free, there is a Baby Soft brand though.

My daughter now 4 has had something very similar and in reading the other comments, there are several similarities. After a lot of trial and error, Aveeno Moisturizing lotion has been our friend. It does seem to be worse in the winter time and not much of problem in the summer. Good luck

My son has eczema. It feels like a cat's tongue and sometimes you can't even see it. I would talk to your pediatrician because you can get prescription lotions with anti-itch medicine in it.

My little guy has dry rough skin all over every now and then. Normally I just use Johnson's baby lotion but when it gets bad I coat him with Aquaphor for a few days and it softens him up. Aquaphor is a clear thick cream from the makers of Eucerin and it really works well. Hope this helps.

I have always used Aveeno brand lotion on my daughter when this happens. Her pediatrician recommends it. I love it because it is scent-free, so it is less likely to irritate her skin. My daughter is 2 and we have had to change some of her regular lotions as she got older and her skin changed. But, I have always used Aveeno when her skin gets really dry. Good Luck!
