Dry Skin - Morrisville,PA

I lotion my entire body daily and overall have very healthy skin. However, after having my first child 2 years ago my hands and feet are so, so dry. Any recommendations on a great hand cream that doesn't smell horrible and any suggestions on a foot remedy other than wearing vaseline filled socks at night (yuck!) Thanks for any input you have!

What can I do next?

Hiya! I have the same problem but instead of vaseline I use Aquaphor, (it's not as bad). Also, I use Vaseline with cocoa butter!!! Good luck!!!

I used to use Eucerin, the cream version. It's a little greasy when you put it on, but it's GREAT for dry skin. Also, drinking more water can help, too.

Use humidifiers in the house. Try Gold Bond Ultimate Healing lotion. Put lotion on as soon as you get out of the shower and every time you wash your hands, do dishes, etc.

Hi J.,

I have exzema and what works best for me is drinking lots of water, flaxseeds (I put them in my yougurt and cereal). Also I take evening primrose three times a day. Good Luck!

I too suffer from dry skin brought about by frequent hand washing and a medicine I take which leaves me cracked and bleeding. Are you sure you're drinking enough water to hydrate? As a Mary Kay consultant I have found the Satin Hands Set works the best. The lightly peach scented Smoothie Hand Scrub sloughs off the dead skin, starts to smooth both feet and hands. Follow that by Extra-Emollient Night cream (I do put this on prior to wearing nylons with cotton socks while I dress, apply makeup) and the peach hand cream. Best yet, if you are unhappy, Mary Kay refunds your money! I have used this for 23 years. I would be happy to help you:) E.

I don't think it's as much a matter of WHAT you use as to HOW MUCH you use it. I try to keep lotion at every sink and on my night stand as a reminder to moisturize! Check out Avalon Organic stuff. I also like the Gold Bond lotions and St Ives products. I never liked Aquaphor (too greasy) and b/c I have occasional eczema on my hands, I've about tried them all!
Your feet will stay much nicer longer with regular pedicures, too. Treat yourself! Good luck!

The cream I absolutely love is Honey Bee skin cream (original). You can get it at some craft shows or order it online: http://honeybeez.com/ it's not cheap, but it is worth every penny! It's made with all natural stuff and it's not greasy at all. I can't stand lotions or creams that feel even a little bit greasy! This cream goes on and quickly sinks into the skin and your hands/body are so soft!! My toddler son has had eczema since he was an infant and altho it didn't get rid of the eczema, it did soften his skin much better than the aquaphor did.

When my youngest daughter came down with ecezema I reached out to mamasource and their suggestions cured her problem! After switching soaps, sunscreen and perfumed products I tried aquaphor on her skin. It was amazing how it helped her. I use it occasionally when my hands get too dry from hand sanitizers and it heals quickly. Its worth a try! walmart, kmart, anywhere you can find it. good luck.

The creams that work for me are True Blue Spa (Heel of Aproval and Look Ma, New Hands). They can be purchased from Bath and Body Works. They have Glycolic Acid, which helps exfoliating the dry skin and the shea butter moisturize.
Also, look at the soaps that you use. Even for the little one, try to stay away from Johnson products since they are very drying. Here is a link where you can find a list of soaps that can irritate your skin http://www.skintypesolutions.com/forum/index.php/topic,40...
You can also check this site, skintypesolutions.com to find out more about skin solutions and products. The forum is really great.
