I lotion my entire body daily and overall have very healthy skin. However, after having my first child 2 years ago my hands and feet are so, so dry. Any recommendations on a great hand cream that doesn't smell horrible and any suggestions on a foot remedy other than wearing vaseline filled socks at night (yuck!) Thanks for any input you have!

What can I do next?

Hiya! I have the same problem but instead of vaseline I use Aquaphor, (it's not as bad). Also, I use Vaseline with cocoa butter!!! Good luck!!!

I used to use Eucerin, the cream version. It's a little greasy when you put it on, but it's GREAT for dry skin. Also, drinking more water can help, too.

Use humidifiers in the house. Try Gold Bond Ultimate Healing lotion. Put lotion on as soon as you get out of the shower and every time you wash your hands, do dishes, etc.

Hi J.,

I have exzema and what works best for me is drinking lots of water, flaxseeds (I put them in my yougurt and cereal). Also I take evening primrose three times a day. Good Luck!

I HAD the same problem and since I starting using the mositerizing hand soap from Bath & Body works. My hands are so soft! I never found any lotions that helped and I tried many. I used to use vaseline which didn't help either. My hands would crack & bleed and hurt.

Best of luck.

Dear J.,
Your body probably needs a little health with essential fatty acids....oils. These oils appear in your diet in many ways. Olive oil, flaxseed oil, canola oil and corn oil are several ways to put oil in your body. I ingest oils every day and used to do what you are doing, but that stopped many years ago. I read one book stating that flaxseed oil was the best.
So, using oil in your salad, cooking with it and ingesting oil daily will help your situation. Check your present diet and if you need help, contact a nutritionist for additional support.
If food supplement regementation is necessary, then just make sure you check with your medical specialist.
Lotions may enhance what you are doing, until the oils take hold. Just make sure that the lotion has shea butter.
I hope that this is helpful. Please contact me for further info re the oils.
Good luck,
E.

I know EXACTLY what you mean!
After my first child was born (6 years ago) my hands would get SO dry that they'd literally crack & split open & bleed! It was awful!--So painful! I tried everything that I could, even Rx creams. Nothing worked!

As cheesy as it sounds, I was at a fair & saw a booth for this stuff called L'Bri Pure n' Natural & decided to try a sample. Since my sister had a natural skincare company (yup, I tried her stuff too!), I knew that most lotions contain products that will never actually "soak" into your skin--they just rest on top & wash off very quickly. Many will even dry your skin out from the inside out!

Anyway, to make a pretty long story not as long, I tried it & instantly fell in love! When I washed my hands a little while later, it DIDN'T wash off! I went back the next day & purchased some & later ended up actually rep'ing for them because I fell inlove with their stuff so much!

If you're in the Easton area, I'd be happy to meet you someplace & give you a sample pack. If not, you can order one on the site if you'd like (it's FREE, you just pay shipping): www.A..lbri.com Their "Intense Moisture Cream" would be perfect for you. Especially w/ winter setting in! VERY rich, but never greasy!

It really is amazing stuff! I have used NOTHING else on my skin or my family's skin in the last 5 yrs or so since I found it!

I hope you find something that works for you! Please let me know if you have any questions!
A.

Aquaphor works great ..it is greasy kind though. Also try changing your soap. Try Cetaphil.

Avon has their Foot Works products that are great for feet...the one is an intense moisturizer that you're supposed to leave on overnight and it works great! My friend sells Avon and got me hooked on it! I lather it on at night (not every night, though) and put some socks on and they're smooth in the morning!

The creams that work for me are True Blue Spa (Heel of Aproval and Look Ma, New Hands). They can be purchased from Bath and Body Works. They have Glycolic Acid, which helps exfoliating the dry skin and the shea butter moisturize.
Also, look at the soaps that you use. Even for the little one, try to stay away from Johnson products since they are very drying. Here is a link where you can find a list of soaps that can irritate your skin http://www.skintypesolutions.com/forum/index.php/topic,40...
You can also check this site, skintypesolutions.com to find out more about skin solutions and products. The forum is really great.

When my youngest daughter came down with ecezema I reached out to mamasource and their suggestions cured her problem! After switching soaps, sunscreen and perfumed products I tried aquaphor on her skin. It was amazing how it helped her. I use it occasionally when my hands get too dry from hand sanitizers and it heals quickly. Its worth a try! walmart, kmart, anywhere you can find it. good luck.

The cream I absolutely love is Honey Bee skin cream (original). You can get it at some craft shows or order it online: http://honeybeez.com/ it's not cheap, but it is worth every penny! It's made with all natural stuff and it's not greasy at all. I can't stand lotions or creams that feel even a little bit greasy! This cream goes on and quickly sinks into the skin and your hands/body are so soft!! My toddler son has had eczema since he was an infant and altho it didn't get rid of the eczema, it did soften his skin much better than the aquaphor did.

I don't think it's as much a matter of WHAT you use as to HOW MUCH you use it. I try to keep lotion at every sink and on my night stand as a reminder to moisturize! Check out Avalon Organic stuff. I also like the Gold Bond lotions and St Ives products. I never liked Aquaphor (too greasy) and b/c I have occasional eczema on my hands, I've about tried them all!
Your feet will stay much nicer longer with regular pedicures, too. Treat yourself! Good luck!

I too suffer from dry skin brought about by frequent hand washing and a medicine I take which leaves me cracked and bleeding. Are you sure you're drinking enough water to hydrate? As a Mary Kay consultant I have found the Satin Hands Set works the best. The lightly peach scented Smoothie Hand Scrub sloughs off the dead skin, starts to smooth both feet and hands. Follow that by Extra-Emollient Night cream (I do put this on prior to wearing nylons with cotton socks while I dress, apply makeup) and the peach hand cream. Best yet, if you are unhappy, Mary Kay refunds your money! I have used this for 23 years. I would be happy to help you:) E.

You could try Jojoba oil (organic kind) it's a plant based oil that is much like our own sebum (our own oils) that the body produces. It's natural and you could put it on your feet before you go to bed, but it does absorb into the skin so you should be able to use it during the day too, a little goes a long way. Good Luck!

Hi J....Im a consultant for Arbonne International...before I got involved with Arbonne I had severely dry skin issues...after using the Arbonne product line and getting the results I was longing for I was sold...I couldnt help but share this information with anyone who would listen...so that is when I decided to be a consultant.
1. stay AWAY from any lotions/creams/moisturizers that contain any type of petroleum or mineral oil...as these ingredients will only make your skin more dry.
check out our products at www.arbonne.com you can see some before and after pix and testimonials. Arbonne has a foot scub and foot cream combo called Pampermint...and it is DELICIOUS!!! our body care set comes with a serum and body lotion and has also proven to get great results for dry skin issues. There are a number of ways to save with Arbonne...feel free to contact me for more information.
all of the products come with a 45 day money back guarantee.
