Dry Patch of Skin

I notice a couple of days ago by son who is 13 months old has two little dry patches of skin right above his bum. It doesn't seem to bother him but should I take him to the doctors? Also, I should mention he gets a bubble bath every night so I'm going to stop for a while and see if that help but I could use someone else opinion.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Just a little update...I ended up taking Jacob to the doctors because it wasn't getting any better. She she said it could be eczema or his diaper just rubbing him more becuse he still isn't walking yet. I use huggies so I switch to pampers and quit the bubble bath. I also now give him a bath every other day. The doctor gave me cream, it seems to be clearing it up. Thank you to all who gave me great advice.

I have this problem with both my boy's. Although my son who is now 4 seem's to be doing better with it. My 5 month old get's these patches all over. I to was subscribed a cream (works great), but also I have learned that giving them baths everyother day instead of everyday help's so much! The water just dry's there skin out badly. Well I hope this help's you and your little boy out!

My daughter gets patches like that occasionally. Try limiting the bubble baths since the soap can dry the skin even more. In fact, you might want to switch to just doing baths every other night and just a quick sponge bath before bed on the other nights. With the cooler, dryer winter air, it might help with dry skin. Try putting some vaseline on it. That's what my daughter's doctor recommended the last time she had a dry patch. If it doesn't clear up in a week or so, you might want to have the doctor check and make sure it's not something else.

Stick with Aveno (wash and lotion) and try baths every other day. My son had ezcema and this worked wonders!

I would say to stop the bubble bath because I know soaps can be drying. My doctor told me anything with a scent in it is more drying. Also you can try putting like an A&D ointment on it to see if that helps. Good luck!

Tricia's right on it.....A&D works wonders on other areas besides rashy bums. I even use it when I have scrapes and rashes on myself at night (too stinky for daytime wear).
