Hi Moms!

My 2.5 month old has slept throught the night for the past 2 nights!! YEAH!! But now he is waking up DRY after 8 hours of sleep ... just checking to see if this is normal/ok. His older brother was NEVER dry and still is not. He has anywhere from 6-8 wet diapers during the day just not a night .... any thoughts??

Check out "elimination communication" -- it is a whole school of thought that even young babies can hold their pee if they want to and many babies actually do not like to soil their nest so to speak. According to their research most babies do not pee while they are in a deep sleep-- they are peeing during the in between times of their sleep cycles. Maybe your baby is just sleeping very well? Check out the book Diaper Free Baby for a lot more information. It is not about coercive early potty training-- just about trying to communicate and understand babies' bodies. Congratulations on your little one!

6-8 wet diapers a day is good. i wouldn't worry about him being dry at night at such a young age. it's ok. ask your ped to relieve you.

My now 9-month old daughter did the same thing before she was 3 months old and then it was back to wet diapers 24/7. My son was NEVER dry and now they both pee for the Olympics! Sounds like your son is doing very well.
These little ones are all so different from each other!

Dear L.,
Congratulations on your little baby!
He's so young yet..it sounds like he's peeing enough during the day so I wouldn't be too worried about it. I'd count it as a blessing that he stays dry at night as long as possible because he probably sleeps happier that way. He'll be peeing around the clock soon enough, I'm sure.

Best wishes!

Sounds like someone is ready to POTTY TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is one of the signs he is ready (and one of the important ones too). I'd say to try and get him on the potty first thing after waking up. Then go from there..Yah for your son!

Does your baby urinate normally throughout the day?

My son started waking up dry really early too. I'd say as long as he is having plenty of wet diapers during the day and gaining weight adequately, don't worry about it! You may be able to start potty training him really early (my son started at 15 months and was almost totally trained by 2). I guess he must not like sleeping n a wet diaper!

Sounds normal - I did a double-take...at first I was thinking 2.5 YEAR old! I wouldn't worry about it during the night - but during the day, as long as the 6-8 wet diapers during the day continue...
