Drop in or Rotating Childcare for Firefighter/EMT Family
Our household schedule has recently changed & we are now on the look for Child Care. DH just started working 24 hour shifts on a rotating schedule ( 1 day on, 2 days off) & I work full time 7-4. Our 5 year old starts Kindergarten this year from 1-3:30 everyday & our 4 year old starts pre-school half day, 3 days a week. We are in the process of trying to find childcare.
We are really looking for AM care for 2-3 days a week? Any ideas or locations available for this? What is reasonable?

I've used Mangos Place. It's great for drop-in childcare.

I used craigslist to find my sitters. I did strict interviews with the people first. If you are on the west/sw side of Columbus, let me know. I have a great friend who watches children.
I am now a SAHM so I do not use a sitter anymore, but like I said, if you are the west or sw side let me know b/c I have a great referance for ya.

If you have a set schedule, or you know which days in the week you'll need care, you can set up a part time schedule with most daycare centers. If the times and days of the week will change, you could look into Mango's Place, which has locations near Tuttle Crossing mall and Polaris mall. They can either charge by the hour, or you can attend all day. But you do have to call them a little ahead of time to let them know you're coming--they need to have adequate staff ratios.
