Dripless Cups for Older Kids
I am looking for drinking cups with dripless lids that can be used with straws for my kids who are too old for sippy cups, but still tip over their drinks. I want something that will fit in a car cup holder. My seven year old and her friends, and our dog, knock over cups quite frequently, and I am looking for something to contain the mess. I had two sets of tupperware cups with straw seals, but my older kids who do the dishes have lost nearly all the lids. I know that I can buy more lids, but I am looking for a cheaper alternative. Something that I won't pay so much for that I get mad when they throw away a lid, or the whole cup. I would like something easy to clean without a lot of valves. They don't have to come with their own straws, those get thrown away also. So a cup that can use a regular staw is best.

My mother in law bought my son this "Cars" cup that has a lid and a straw. The lid snaps very securely to the cup so there really isn't a problem with it leaking there. I assume she found it at walmart and assume that I'm sure the same kind of cup comes in different character choices. My friend's son also had these playtex ones that have a straw in them and you can close the straw so that it won't leak. My son has one made buy nubby and the straw is even leak proof (it has that nubby no valve design). Just a few suggestions to look for.

I use the take an toss cups with lids for straws. They aren't toally drip proof, but I do not have a problem with them making a mess. (I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old) The straws fit snugly in the hole, I have been using regular bendy straws, but they do come with their own straws that can be reused. The lids pop on nice and tight too.

I have 3 year old twins that recently informed me that they are too big for their sippys but I too wanted something that wouldn't drip in the car. I'm also concerned about all the pthalates in all this plastic stuff so I purchased stainless steel water bottles from Kleen Kanteen with the sport caps. You can see them at this website (they had the best price and free shipping when I purchased them):

So far, they have not leaked for us unless you open the valve, turn it upside down and shake it. It has a protective cover for the sport cap too so won't get dirty. The downside of these is that they "sweat" when you put cold liquids in it but there is a company called BuiltNY (www.builtny.com) that makes insulated carriers that fit them. The other drawback is that they are kind of expensive. Well, I hope this helps you or someone else. Bye :)

Walmart and most grocery stores have take along with straw holes. They come with straws but you can use your own if you lose them. They are disposable but you can re use them for a while! I think they come in a 4 pack for around $3. We took them camping. We use the Nalgeen kids sport bottles as our regular sippies since all the china plastic recalls.

Switch to water only unless they are at the dinner table. The health and dental benefits would also be enormous.

TARGET, where else!!! In the baby section - I think they were 6 for $3 or so. They are designed for several uses and then toss - I've been using them for a couple of months.

I have some blue plastic cups that come in 2 sizes. They have holes for straws or you can flip a tab and drink directly from the cup. I think they are made by glad. You can get them at Walmart or some grocery stores. I really like them.
