Dreft

Hi Mamas!

I am getting a new HE washer delivered tomorrow :) Can I use Dreft if it is not HE detergent? What HE detergent do you all recommend?

What can I do next?

You can. You just need to use less than you would ordinarily. The amount will be dependent on which washer you got. You may have to try a couple of loads to see what works best. The cap has 3 lines marked 1-3. I have an LG and we usually fill the cap to the #1 line for a full load of baby clothes, baby sheets, etc. This is about 1/2 a cap. If it's a smaller load, we use less.

I'm not sure what HE is but I used to use dreft and then switched to All free when I realized it was the same thing but more than half the price. Then at Big Lots I found Sun Detergent that was also free of dyes and fragrence for $2.70 for like 48 loads!

Hi there! I have a front loading HE machine and tried using Dreft. Yes, the non-HE detergents create too many suds and won't rinse off your clothes. I made it through about 2 weeks before the Dreft started collecting in my machine and after that I had to run the machine empty several times to get the suds out.

I saw a detergent at Target that is an HE "free" product similar to dreft but it was something like $8 for a small bottle. So I am just using my regular Cheer HE at this point.

I will say that Dreft's Nursery Stain Remover spray is INCREDIBLE! So far it has gotten every stain including poly-visol iron off of each peace of clothing I have used it on.

I have been told that if you don't use HE detergents in HE washers, it creates too many suds because it uses lower water levels to wash your clothes. So it won't clean your clothes properly.

I have an HE washer and have used Dreft going on 3 years straight. (My washer recommended using powder over liquid) I just use less than what the scooper says to use per load. The only HE powder that I have been able to find is made by Tide. I don't like the smell so I use regular detergent. (If anyone knows of other brands please share). Every so often, I do run the shortest cycle with cold water and no spin until I don't see any more suds. Enjoy the new toy. :)

We have used Costco brand and Tide no dye, no fragrance HE detergent. I think Tide gets out more stains but the Costco brand works pretty well and is much less expensive. Good luck!
