Does anyone have a good ped in the DG or nearby area? And affiliated with Good Sam? My current ped is ok, but i have to wait 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours at each appointment before we see him. I cannot spend 2 hours for a 10 minute check up. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

We go to Downers Grove Family Practice. It is located in downtown Downers Grove on Main Street north of the tracks. I mainly see Dr. Hulesch, but I have seen other doctors (I think there are 5 doctors total). I myself have gone there my whole life and now take my son there as well. What I like best is they can always get me in when I need an emergency appointment.

I have a 2-year-old son and a six-month-old son. I bring both my boys to Dr. Hemlata Limaye, in Downer's Grove, on Butterfield Road. She is affiliated with Good Sam. She is very thorough, always takes the time to answer my numerous questions and we've never waited more than 15 minutes for our appointments. Often when I bring one of the kids home from an appointment, my husband comments, "You're home already??? Did you ask everything you wanted to???" My six-month-old was seven weeks premature and suffers from acid reflux. Dr. Limaye has really helped me with his issues and now my little guy is doing remarkably well! Incidentally, Dr. Limaye was recommended to me by my friend's uncle who is a pediatrician (he was written up in Crain's as the pediatrician doctors take their kids to!). He is getting ready to retire and I asked him who I should bring the kids to. His first recommendation was Dr. Limaye. I live in Lockport, so she's not particularly close to my home (takes about 30 minutes for me to get there). I have been extremely pleased! If you'd like her contact information, please let me know!

Dr. Weiss through DuPage Medical Group, office by Yorktown Mall and affiliated with Good Sam. He is good and on time, the other two Dr.'s in his office are usually behind schedule in my expierence but Dr. Weiss is very much on time. He is good too. But, if you like a Dr. to be a little bit more personal with you and take their time a bit more the Dr. will probably have a "behind" schedule. I have seen Dr. Weiss the most at this office, but thought about switching to a different Dr. in the same practice that takes a little more time with me and my 13 month old, but the wait is soooooooo much longer, so I am going to go back to Weiss. Dr. Ibrahim is very nice and so great in the exam room, but sometimes runs late, though another poster on your question didn't seem to have this issue. I can also get an appointment fast and easy if I need to on the same day if not with my preferred Dr. with one of the other two.

We go to Dr. Chris Ibrahim in Lombard, right behind Yorktown off 22nd St. We don't usually have to wait at the office and appointments are pretty easy to get. Dr. Chris is a very very warm and friendly doctor who has two kids herself. She has two other partners at the practice. They're part of DuPage Medical group and I'm pretty sure they're affiliated with Good Sam. Their phone is ###-###-####.

My kids go to Ad-Park in Addison. We usually only wait a few minutes. It's completely unacceptable to wait for 1 1/2 hours to see a doctor. Please let the former doc know you left them because of wait times.

Dr.chris Ibraham, Dr. Weiss in Lombard near the Target at Yorktown. I usually don't wait more than 30 min.,but I've tried to schedule appointments first thing in the morning. As the day moves along I am sure most doctors get backed up. So the earlier the better.

Hi L.,

My peditrician is Dr. Michael Hoffman who is out of Elmhurst Hospital. I have been very pleased with him and his associates at the Elmhurst Clinic. They are always able to get us in right away if my son is sick. We do have to wait for checkups but nothing like you described. He takes HMO and PPO clients.
Good luck

Ours is a little further away, but we really like them. We use Stratford Pediatrics over in Bloomingdale (next to Stratford Square Mall) - Dr Zuckerman, Dr Williams, etc. I don't know if they are affiliated with Good Sam, but I know they are with Central DuPage.

I LOVE our pediatrician! She is a wonderful woman from Pakistan who runs her own practice in tower 1 at Good Sam. My son (4) has always loved her too. He gets upset when I take my daughter (2) for an appt. and don't take him with! Even though she's alone in her practice she is always available by phone etc. outside of office hours and always returns calls promptly. In four years with a child who has had every little illnes possible, she has always been right in her recommendations/treatment. Waiting is only a problem on saturdays, and that is sporatic. If you don't require a glitzy office run by a US born doctor, I hope you consider her - tell her "Griffin" sent you!

I loved Dr. Zahida Muzaffar when I lived closer to DG. She's in the professional building at Good Sam. 3825 Highland Ave
Downers Grove, IL 60515 ###-###-####
I never had a problem getting appointments or waiting long. She is much more concerned with children's well-being than with making money. She once saw my child when she was really sick and we didn't have health insurance temporarily. Dr. Muzaffar let me pay her over time because we were having problems financially. She told me that she'd rather wait for her money than see a child be sick because of finances. Awesome lady!

I have to chime in about Dr. Judith Froehlich. She's wonderful - never had to wait more than a few minutes - and she personally will return calls if you need to talk to the Dr.

EVERYONE in the group is great - but we especially love her.
