Double Strollers - Bradenton,FL
Hi! I'm so full of questions with this next baby coming. Thanks for all your help...what a great network this is! I'm looking into double strollers and wondering, what's better, side-by-side or tandem? I've noticed some of the side-by-sides will accept an infant seat. This will be for my newborn, and daughter who will be 19months. Before my daughter was born (thinking she was our last) we purchased the pink Peg Perego with the step on the back, which was perfect for my 3 year old to ride on the back. Now, not only do I need to do away with the pink, I need to contain my little one :) THANKS

The side by side one's are hard to get through store doors so i'd go with the tandum one. And good luck.

Have you looked at the Kolcraft Contour? I had already purchased a jogging stroller (Expedition from Babies R Us) which has been a great stroller & lightweight but the Kolcraft looks really cool. It will hold an infant and the seats can change directions...
Best of Luck!

Hi, C.!
You have your hands full :-)
When our son was born, my daughter was three. For times when we needed a stroller, I would just take a single for my daughter and put the baby in a sling. I used a wrap sling for when he was a newborn (up to about six weeks) and then a Hot Sling. We also have a ring sling that I use now that he's getting heavy (14 months). I used that for my daughter for trips to Disney and such until she was almost three.
He was so happy to sleep or peek out at people! And it was great for me to be able to run around after the three year old--I'm more "all terrain" than a stroller!
With the ages of your kids, you may even be able to use a sling for the sixteen month old and put the newborn in a stroller if you'd prefer to have the car seat with you.
So, we never used a double stroller! If you'd like pictures or website, feel free to contact me.
Congratulations!

My kids are also 19 months apart. I wasn't sure what to get when I was pregnant. I researched quite a bit and got the One Step Ahead Sit N Stand Elite Double. It is a tandem, and it offered things that were important to me - cup holders, a storage area, and mainly -- versatility. It holds an infant carseat, then once the baby is older - it can be set up so that the kids face one another OR both face forward. AND, then it converts to the sit and stand for later! We are just about to switch to it! Also it was resonably priced - just under $200 I think. It also had great reviews when I had read up on it. Here is the link. http://www.onestepahead.com/product/osa/6793.html The only two drawbacks are - it is a little heavy to get in and out of car and the storage is a little tricky to access - but I just pull the net down and squeeze things in there.

Hi C.,
I have 6 year old twins and had both styles strollers. They both have their good and bad points. The side by side is good for walking around and keeping an eye on your daughter, but they are tricky to get through doors, usually both had to be open if it was a store, and most stores don't have room down the isles for it. The tandem one is great for moving around in tighter spots, but it can get bulky to pack in the van (I hope you have one:-)) I even had a triple stroller, but that is another story:-)
I liked the tandem the best, but for walks, the side by side was good. I would recommend that you go to a store, even like Kid Crazy, and just try them. Have your daughter and maybe your 4 year old sit in them and see how they push and move with weight. That was the only issue I had was when it got heavy to push, it was rough. Each weighs about 25 pounds or so and when you add kids and car seats..... it adds up:-)
Hope this helps!

I liked the side by side. My kids wouldn't pick at eachother as much:) Also, they couldn't fight over who got to sit in the front or back. I felt the side by side also maneuvered easier. You can't go to department stores and shop the clothing racks as easy with either one...but, hey.. you'll have four kids under six...You won't have time to worry about that anyway!:) Good luck and God bless!

I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old - I have both the Graco Duo (the one with bull horn handles) and the side-by-side Peg Perego Aria stroller. The Aria doesn't fit the Graco car seat and it is MUCH garder to push for some reason. It doesn't turn as easily as the Graco. That being said, the Graco is heavier and barely fits in my trunk (after a lot of stroller wrestling). Overall, I like the Graco better, but I sooooo look forward to using a single stroller again!

MacLaren's side-by-side has got to be the best as far as durability, portability, lightweight, and easy to maneuver. And unlike other side-by-sides, it is constructed so well and compact that it can easily go through store doors and aisles with ease, without compromising the little ones' comfort.
