Ladies, I need opinions on a double stroller. I will have a 2 yr old and a newborn and have no clue on what is a good double stroller. Do you like the side by side stroller or the tandem stroller? I do jog so I guess I need an indoor stroller and a jogging stroller? Or, do they make one stroller that you can use for both? Any suggestiions or reviews would be appreciated. I did some online research and it looks like the McClaren and the Baby Jogger got good reviews but I want to hear it straight from mamas. Thanks!

What can I do next?

i have a valco tri-mode twin and i am in love with it. my situation is a little different, because i have a 2 year old and infant twins - they are 19 months apart. i put the babies in the stroller and bought a toddler seat attachment for my oldest son. it has changed my life, i swear! i can jog, go off-road, fit through a single door, it's amazing! if you thought you might ever have a third child. you could get the same stroller with the option for the toddler seat. OR, valco has a tri-mode single jogger with a toddler seat attachment that might work even better for you. i seriously cannot rave enough about this stroller, it is so easy to fold up, takes up minimal space, etc. it is the only reason i can leave the house! i had a double sit and stand, it was very hard to drive. i only used it for the first few months, and i will never use it again. let me know if you have any questions about the valco, i will happily sing its praises some more!

I have a Phil and Ted, and I love it. It would work for running and doing errands. They are pricey though. I was able to get mine second hand.

I bought a Graco duo-glide when i was pregnant with my second. I love it. The wheels are great and i love that i can turn the seats around easily. Having my kids face each other has been great. The baby watches his 2 year old brother and they laugh at each other. It allows me to take longer walks with them. I do have a used double jogger but haven't brought the baby running yet.

The double BOB gets my vote. It's great for jogging, trail walking and just being outside in general but also compact enough and has a swivel/lock front wheel for inside use (lock position for jogging). We have a single and loved it so much when our second came along we got the double.

I agree with Lori, the sit and stand double stroller is a great stroller!
My daughter was 21 months old when my son was born in November! We went to Babies R Us and tried every single double stroller, and by far, the sit and stand is the only ones that fits our needs. First it's very compact, and fits in most regular trunks, it the lightest of all double strollers. Our Graco carseat fits perfect in the back seat! But what's interesting about it, is that in less than a year our daughter will outgrow sitting in the stroller so we can just remove the back seat and she can stand, while our babyboy sits in the front!
I have used it since November, and I'm so impressed at how good it stears, the tons of storage it has underneath, and how comfortable it is for our toddler, the seats reclines for more comfort! And the price is just unbeatable!
Hope this helps!

You may want to search Double Strollers - there were 2 questions yesterday as well that might have some different answers.

Side-by-sides are really hard to maneuver in stores, at the zoo, etc. So, we went with a front-to-back.

I'd highly recommend going to a store that has a few that you can try out in the store - see how it handles around racks, down aisles, how your kids like being in it.

We changed our mind after taking a "test drive" at Babies R Us and went with the Graco DuoGlide. All things considered, it's been a really good stroller. It's a little hard to turn with just one hand, and the rear cup holders have both fallen off. Otherwise, though, we've been happy with it.

Good luck.

We have the Graco DuoGlider stroller, I go on long walks with the kids and have even jogged behind it even though it's not a jogging stroller. As long as you are on pavement I think it would be fine. It also folds up nice for the back of the car which was an issue with us.

Go to BabiesRUS and test them out and then ask an associate if you can see if it fits in your car. That might help you make the final decision.

I wouldn't go anywhere near a Graco stroller if I wanted something I could run with.

BOB, Baby Jogger, Valco, P&T.....look for strollers that have air filled tires and a swivel wheel. You may end up with 2 - a jogging stroller and something you can use for quick trips/mall/etc.

I love the Joovy Ergo- it is a stroller and a half- sit and stand. Newborn car seat can fit in the front and 2yo can sit buckled- 3pt or stand holding on. and has a great seat for when new baby can sit up.

I have a BumbleRide Indie Twin side-by-side and love it. (It is comparable to the BOB.) I love the side by side and the baby carseat fits in it (which was a MUST for me) and I use it all the time! at the zoo, at Target, neighborhood walks, rollerblading... But there are 2 places I do NOT use it: the pediatricians office and department stores/clothing stores b/c of the width.

Side by side is easy to steer one handed and is not that much wider...I fit it through store doorways no prob. If I were to get something narrower, I'd consider Sit & Stand b/c the 2 yr old wants to walk half the time anyway.

My kids are 16 months apart so similar ages. If we can't use the double, I use the single stroller and the kids take turns and the other one walks or I hold or hold in my sling.

I recommend the Phil and Ted double. It's very easy to maneuver, folds up easily, and super cute. Our kids are 22 months apart and when our second child was born we got the Phil and Ted Dash from Amazon. We wish we knew about this stroller earlier because this is the only stroller you'll need. You can use it as a single stroller too if you don't put the back seat on. I just love it.

have you thought able the double sit and stand- you can find them on walmart online- i have done much research on these and they have good reviews- the backseat can be a seat or taken off to stand- they also fit graco infant carseats(these fit in the front). the models for around $175 have a tray for the back seat also vs just the fron and the ones for around $130 have a seatbelt strap to strap the infant seat on vs snapping in

the reviews on different websites also say they have good steering and fold down to a good size for a double stroller. one of the moms in my sons class got one, but she is due in 3 weeks so hasn't used it yet either

I haven used on yet (have a 2 1/2 yr old and and one dug beg of Aug)
Hope this helps some :)

It's been a long time since I had my twins (now 25), but when they were babies I had a front/back stroller - very cumbersome. I think I would go with a side by side now, and I'm sure they have improved them in 25 years.

Hi,
I had the same age difference but with a twist my eldest is really tall and heavy for his age so I needed a stroller that could deal with that too. Also we travel a lot on extended, monthly trips so I needed one that would be useful for everything. I found the Phil and Teds Sport a New Zealand stroller..and it is awesome. There is always some compromise but you can jog/run in it( the front wheel locks out although they r the smaller wheels,) it is good at maneuvering, with it being one behind the other there r no fighting issues and it is way easier to shop in stores, as long as your first in less than 30lbs you can have the baby lie flat and the bigger one sits in fron on top as such anyway u can c it on the website www.philandteds.com/ to kind of understand it. There is a store in Hurst and dallas to test drive that has them but i bought mine online and saved heaps. Its not cheap but online i got it for $400. I think its the best kiddoes equipment i bought.

The only warning I will say is that never have the stroller near the exhaust of your car when the car is on. If the baby is riding in the kiddy seat when it gets bigger it is right at the height of the exhaust.

Good Luck

i love my joovy sit n stand but no good for jogging. i have seen a lot of jogging strollers around town doing indoor things. It seems silly to get two double strollers. I would get a good jogging stroller and just use that for everything. Sorry don't have any recommendations though.

BOB Duallie! Hands down! Great as a jogging stroller, but also as an around the town stroller! Has infant car seat adapter and holds up to 100# I believe. Fits through single doors, which most side by sides do not. Cannot recommend it enough!

I had my mind set on a front/ back Graco but after test driving with my 18 month old and my newborn carseat ( take both to test drive) I fell in love with the Peg Perago Aria. Like another mom said, it's not much wider than a tandem stroller and soooo much easier to steer... even one handed if need be. When I test drove the front/ back, it was harder to maneuver turns and I couldn't even see my toddler in front because the carseat blocked my view. My Peg Perago turns on a dime! I love it and use it all the time with my now 2.5 yo and 10 m old.
