Double Stroller - Elmer,NJ

My sister and I had our babies 24 days apart. We are thinking of getting our mom a double stroller but don't know where to start. Any recommendations? We don't want anything too bulky for her to carry/lift. She has the kids 2-3 days a week.

What can I do next?

Hi M., I bought my double stroller at ToysRUs years and years ago and loved it! I had a Graco that I passed along when my girls got too big for it. Best wishes.

I bought the Zooper Tango double stroller and love it. It's a side by side and fits through every door at the mall (although it's a bit tight). It's a little pricey, but I really wanted a side by side stroller so that my 2 year old and newborn were next to each other and could interact. The downsides is that the basket underneath is a bit hard to access, the kids don't have a snack tray in front of them (although I don't know how many doubles do have that option) and it's a bit heavy. But I think every double stroller on the market is heavy! The other bonus on the Zooper is that both seats are the same size. I looked at some other side by side double strollers and one seat tended to be a bit bigger than the other. That's great for kids that are two different ages, but it also means they can never switch seats. And it would be tough for two kids that were the same age. Good luck! Check out ratings online as there are a lot of great jogger strollers out there that might be easy to use, even if she's not a jogger. They tend to be lighter weight. And check your local consignment shops as they always have some for sale. You may have to take your time in finding one and it won't be new, but you will probably pay half price.

I have 2yr old twins and we got a jeep double stroller from Toys R Us. It was only about $60, it fits through most doors, and both seats are the same size. It has storage bags on each side and a removable canopy. The backs of the seats recline for smaller children and you can roll up the insert for a pillow and the back is mesh so air can get through on hot summer days. It is lightweight but it is made like a Jeep and is easier over rougher ground. We love it.

Dont know of any good ones but I HATED my Duoglider(think it was Graco)-so heavy!

I went with the BabyTrend sit and stand double stroller. The back seat is removable. It works well for us.

I don't remember what mine was, my older two are 13 and 14 now... but i liked the one in front of the other. I know that the side by sides fit through most doors but not through every isle. It is hard to fit with a single stroller down some store isles :( Just my 2 cents :)

i have peg prego, it side by side. very light, easy to fold and unford. love it.

I'm not sure what other replies you've received, but I would check out local MOM's (mothers of multiples') sales, as you can find good prices on good strollers. My friend, a mother of twins, is selling her tandem double stroller for $150 (originally $400 I think) - it sits front to back, either seat can accommodate any carseat, toddler seat, or standing child; both seats change positions (facing away, facing each other, facing you). Thru her research, all of the double strollers weigh a ton, there didn't seem to be much way around that, afterall they need to be sturdy enough to hold two 60-lb kids :) Good luck!
