Double Stroller - Pleasanton, CA
Hi Moms,
I've got 2 little ones. I have a 2 year old son and a 2 month old daughter. I'm looking into getting a double stroller and am looking at specifically the sit and stand ones. I've compared the baby trend stroller and the joovy stroller and can't decide. Wanted to know if anyone has experience with either of these and do you recommend them. Or perhaps there maybe another stroller that you can recommend. (I do like the Phil and Ted's one, but not sure of the practicality) My preference would be lightweight, portable, compact (as I don't have a lot of trunk space). Thanks for all your help in advance.

I have the Joovy and LOVE it. I drive a 4 door sedan, and it easily fits in the trunk. We have also used it at Disneyland to transport 3 kids at a time when exhaustion hit at the end of the day. It is a very well made, easy to use stroller. Whatever you decide, nothing beats a good stroller!

Love my Joovy ultralight. We drive a sedan and were able to tuck it in the trunk even with the carseat attachment in place. My 2 yr old loves jumping on & off his "choo choo" stroller at the zoo, etc. Happy Shopping!

I love the Baby Trend sit and stand and my 2 year old loves it. We use it all the time for the zoo and out of town trips. It is easy to maneuver and very sturdy for the price.

When my kids were your age, we bought a Peg Perego 2 seater with one behind the other. We got it used for about $80 and it did the job for us and was very durable and folded up quickly and easily into a pretty small size. I'm glad we did that over the standing one because frequently I had two kids sleeping. 2 year olds can't walk very far!! At least mine couldn't. I can't comment on the newer models as as we haven't needed a stroller for the last 5 years or so.

We use public transit so the Phil and Ted's Double is a must as it has a one-stroller footprint. It also runs pretty well as a jogger. I had the huge Graco one before we moved to Europe and while it did fold up for car use, have cup holders and kept my son away from my daughter in her car seat at birth to 7 months, it just pales to the Phil and Teds for mobility. We bought the cheapest model on sale from under $500, the Classic and had Grandma ship it to us. All strollers in Switzerland are expensive due to tariffs. The Bugaboo - the Rolls Royce of strollers in the U.S. - are common here in Zurich. They have a double too I think but who wants to pay over $700-$900 for a basic stroller? The kids are now 41 months (3) and 17 months (1) and both like to sit in both positions. We expect to still be using it in 4-5 years, it holds 100 pounds. If this little one falls fast asleep, I can still stick her in the infant position (flat) while my son rides above. Check our Phil and Ted's:

or see if there are used ones on Craigslist or eBay if you have no issues with that. Kids don't care.

Hi M.-
I consider myself a self-proclaimed stroller junkie...most women buy shoes, I like strollers!! I have had over 9...don't tell my husband. I had the Joovy, which was fabulous, except, I had kids who liked to sleep!! And both cannot sleep at the same time, at least comfortably. I currently have the Baby Jogger city elite, and it is fabulous and totally worth the money! I wish I had this first, as I don't think I would have purchased all the others, AND have spent more that the $370 that this one cost! My cousin swears by the Phil and Ted, I just thought it was odd. I really wanted the BOB dualie, but it is a beast and we just couldn't afford it. Hope this helps.

Hello M.,
When my second son was born my older son was right at 2.5yrs old and still needed to be strapped down in a stroller, mostly in the malls and festivals. I found this great stroller for all my needs with 2 little ones.

WHat is great is the back seat comes out and converts to the sit n stand. The front seat has an infant car seat converter that fits just about all different carries. Little more work putting it all together but it is wonderful. the one i have has a different pattern but this troller is well priced for all you get and takes care oif all your needs with 2 children. My older son loved sitting in the back seat and being able to loook at his new baby brother up front. My older son is very tall and was 32lbs and the stroller moved around well. You will get a work out as they both get bigger. LOL. I also have the stroller handle hooks to hang bags on the stroller which helps with extra cargo.
Hope this helps. Good luck. No one tells you how crazy it is going from 1-2children. heehee

I feel the same as the previous poster, about the Phil & Ted's Sport. I LOVE mine - with a two year old and 3 month old - it's awesome! It's very compact and easy to use!
Aparently BOB makes a similar one too, so I think either might be a good fit. I know they are more pricy, but Craigslist has deals every now and then.
best wishes...
