hi, I think that someone has already asked this question, but I don't remember your answers, so here goes again-
I currently have one 18-month old son, expecting again in August, and I'm wondering if I should get a double stroller for them? My son will be just two, when the new baby arrives.
Any opinions, suggestions?
thanks much-

Absolutely!!! My son was 11 1/2 months old when my daughter was born. They are now 3 and 4 and even though my son is a bit big to be in the stroller I still use it. It is a MUST if I have to shop by myself. My husband is a physician so I am on my own a lot and we don't have any family around so it has been a life saver for me. I would recommend the tandem and not side to side. There isn't a lot of aisle room anywhere.
When they were smaller I put the baby carrier in the back but now that they are older I put the bigger one in back and the smaller one in front for easier "driving". Even if you only use it for a year or two it will save you from many headaches. I love it because I can look at something and know my kids aren't running everywhere or getting lost.

My kids are 27 mos. apart and the double stroller was a big help to me. Especially from the time my youngest was 6 mos. Eventually I traded the double in for a sit-n-stand which was really great for shopping or the zoo as my oldest was around 4.
Definitely check out the resale shops before buying new!

Personally I love my double stroller. I didn't really need it until my second was about 6 months. Until then I use the baby bjorn and one stroller. I still use my stroller and my girls are 4 and 17 months and plan on using it this summer for walking the dog and going down to the pool. Look at your life style and ask yourself do you have a need. When and How would you use it? Not everyone need one. But considering that your two are going to be close in age you may.

I would definitely get a double stroller, just make sure you get the one that's right for you. Do you jog or walk regularly? You may want to invest in a double jogging stroller. They have much bigger wheels and are much easier to push around outside while walking. Do you need it more for shopping and running daily errands? Then you may want the more conventional style with all the extra room for storage beneath and at the handle. Just make sure to get the same brand as your infant carrier so you can snap it in to the stroller. Also, see if they will let you try it in your trunk/storage area of your car to make sure it is not too big. I wasn't sure about investing alot of money on a new stroller when my second child was born, but now even after the third, boy am I glad I did!

I would suggest a double stroller. I have three year old twins. The only negative thing I have to say about double strollers is that it was hard whoever was sitting in the back out. If you put the new baby in the back in the car seat then you could put your 18 month old in the front. I recommend the tandom stroller vs. the side by side just because it is hard enough to get through isles with a single stroller let alone a side by side.

I only have one, but I know when we watch younger kids, my soon to be 5 year old would still LOVE to sit in the strollers if he fit! He has gotten better in the last year about it, but up until then, we took a stroller to any place we would be walking for a real long time with him (zoo, cross country meets, even the mall if I was going to be there awhile). I would have to say yes, a double stroller is worth the investment.

My boys are 3 and 21 months. I still use my double stroller. I can going to have a baby in June and my mmiddle son will be 2. I plan on kicking my 3 year old out and getting a sit and stand double stroller that will hold an infant seat.
Double strollers are a lifesaver! My only suggestion is trying it out in the store before buying!

My kids are 18 months apart. My SIL gave us one and it was nice to have but it was bulky and a little hard to get in the back of our Tahoe. My husband ended up buying a new one at Walmart that was much smaller and easier to take in and out of the tahoe. We don't use it as much now as my older one feels she is big enough but on certain occasions (like shopping at the mall) we do use it and i do love it.

my babies #2 and 3 are only 16 and 1/2 months apart, so I bought a double stroller when #3 was on the way. #2 didn't want anything to do with it! So, for us it was basically a waste of money. However, my friends son was 2 yrs and 2 mo when his brother came along-she shopped around and tried out lots of different options and finally bought a sit and stand type stroller for the two of them, and they all LOVE it! She says it is a little bulky, and in some stores the aisles are too tight, but it folds easily, fits well in her van, and she swears she couldn't live without it.
so the only thing I can suggest is whatever you DO decide to buy, make sure you go in to the store and try out what they have, fold it up, see how it turns, see if it is compatible with your infant carseat (if you still have one) and make SURE it really is what you want, because those things are expensive :)

We got one for our kids that are 23 months apart. They are now 4 and 2. The younger one was not a stroller baby like our older one, so we did not use it near as much as I thought we would. The older one loved to walk the neighborhood and the younger one would start complaining about 5 mins into our walks!

I have mine available if anyone is interested in a slightly used one:

My kids are two years apart and I used a baby carrier for my younger one until she got too heavy. About a month or two ago I got a Joovy sit-n-stand, and I love it! It folds very nicely, smaller than my graco single stroller!
Double strollers are not essential, but it sure makes it easier to get around!

I love(d) my double. I had a front/back style and it was surprisingly compact when folded. I like the Graco duo-glider, though I think there are newer models out there (mine is 3 years old). The back seat lays flat, while the front only reclines, however, I found that it steers better with the heavier child in back, but my older child was almost three and on the heavy side when my younger was born, and if you're using a carrier carseat it is better in back. Hope this helps!

Hi! What a coincidence...I have an 18 month old daughter and am expecting again in August! I plan on getting a double stroller for them. My daughter still loves her stroller so I think it is a really good idea.

Congratulations to you and best of luck with your babies!!
