Hi, Moms.

Can anyone recommend a good stroller for a newborn and a three-year old, who would probably enjoy a sit/stand combo for herself. I would like one that I can put the Graco car seat into.

Thanks for your help:)

I'm for babywearing too, there are a ton of great carriers out there, much more cozy than a car seat. Plus, I've heard that babies really shouldn't stay in a car seat for too long, it's not good for them or their developing bodies. That said, we ended up getting a Phil & Teds and LOVE IT! It's not too wide and it's not too long. Good luck.

I am in the same position -- my son is almost three and I have a newborn. I always thought the Joovy Ultralight Caboose (sit and stand) would be perfect for us but when I tried it out in the store before the baby was born my son never seemed to like it. He also didn't like the Sit and Stand Deluxe tandem stroller that has the back seat that removes to become a sit and stand when they're ready. He said he was squished in the Joovy, because when you put the car seat in the front, it does make it a little more cramped for the child in the back if they're sitting on the bench.

What I ended up just getting is the Peg Perego Aria Twin 60/40 side by side stroller and my son seems happy in it. It's light, accepts a car seat on the wider (60) side and just about fits through standard doorways. Peg Perego says it only works with their car seat but the Graco SnugRide fits in it. The store I looked at it in had a few extra straps you can buy to secure most other car seats in. What I've been told by a couple sales people in different stores is that Peg Perego used to include the strap as standard with all their strollers but now you have to call/go to their website and buy one.

Just keep in mind that there is no perfect double stroller out there, from what I can see! Some don't have cup holders. Some are too heavy, the basket is too small/inaccessible. Some are too wide, bulky, what have you. Some don't have enough legroom for the older child, I could go on and on, I've read a lot of reviews!!!! You just have to find one you can live with.

I tried carrying the baby in a sling/Baby Bjorn and pushing a stroller but sometimes it's awkward. And at three years old they may not like riding in a stroller all the time but there are going to be times when their legs get tired and they can't walk anymore. And there are times when I have realized that I need my son strapped into a stroller or else he is going to take off (especially at the mall, museums, outdoor venues like street fairs, zoos, etc).

I just got a great deal on mine at Babies R Us as it was on clearance because it is the 2008 model. And they give you 90 days to return it for any reason with a receipt so that's a good thing.

Good luck!!!

I had a duoglide...my kids kept wanting in and out...kind of a pain...and my 4 yr old was too big for it. I love my sit and stand!

Hi A..... I have the Baby Trend sit/stand that I used with a Graco car seat. it is in good condition and I have not used it in over a year. It is yours for the great price of $45! I was actually going to place an add in the penny saver for it. my email is ____@____.com if you're interested.

We have a Graco duoglide and the graco car seat fits in it. I would recommend that one. I put my 3 year old and 9 month old in it. Although the 3 year is very capable of walking, its just easier at the store or wherever you dont want them wandering off. Definitely get a double stroller to save yourself some hassle, unless your older one would never walk away from you, then you are lucky.

at 3 a child should be able to walk almost everywhere you go, there really is no reason to do a double stroller if your older child is over 2.

Save your money and just practice walking with the older child - the more they do it the longer they can do it. And you'll have a healthier child too!

We got a Baby Trend Sit N Stand Plus when we had our daughter (our son was 2 when she was born). I use it mostly when we go for walks to the park. If we are all out with Dad we just use an umbrella stroller for the 2 year old, and our Graco for the baby.

I do like the double stroller. It's nice because it does have a regular stroller seat for the older child and once they outgrow that you can take that seat out and they can sit on a bench seat or stand. When our baby was still using her Graco carrier we were able to hook that into this stroller. We purchased ours from Walmart. I think they are at Target as well. I don't use the double stroller all the time as I mentioned, but when I do use it, I like it.

We have a Joovy Caboose...my only complaint is the small undercarriage area, otherwise it has worked wonderfully. We still use it all the time in the city. You can go to BRU to see if your car seat will work with it's infant carrier extender.
We did Disneyland a lot living in Southern CA, and I always used the baby bjorn and a single stroller, so you might want to go that route while the baby is small. We actually used the baby bjorn until my son was 9 months b/c he much preferred that to sitting in a stroller. And, keeping your baby at your chest gives them so many benefits!

I had the Joovy sit and stand for my children. I loved it and it fits all car seats. Sometimes they are for sale on Craig's list and you can get a great deal.

I'll be the weird one and say that I prefer babywearing. I wear my little one in an Ergo and push my son in the stroller. But for the most part, he prefers to talk or push his sister in the stroller. Graco has some good strollers for their baby buckets that are what you're looking for. Check out Babies R Us.
