Dog Sitting
Hi ladies,
Non child related question for everyone. We are considering have a friend come in and dog sit our dog while we are gone a couple of weekends coming up. He is a large dog. The friend I assume would stay here. Any ideas on what the going rate is for that kind of service? We would pay the kennel $21/day. We also have two cats that just need to be fed. Thanks! M.

$50 for the weekend, plus a well-stocked fridge and pantry. And maybe a gas card or other gift card if they have to drive out a ways. If you have plants that need watering and mail and newspapers collected, they can take care of that too. And at least it does not look like nobody's home.

I pet sitted for a female pitbull two weekends in a row and each weekend I got $200. I went over twice a day(morning and night), let her out of her crate, fed, walked and played with her. She was a rather large dog as well.

If he's a good friend and wanting to help you out I'd offer him 50 bucks for the weekend? And stock up on some food. Also...It depends if it is really inconvenient for your friend or .. if he lives w/his parents (lol) If this friend has their own place, etc then maybe offer him / her a little more? LOL

I would definitely have her stay if you could. Overnight who knows what could happen. I don't like my dogs to be alone at night, but don't mind it so much for the cats.
Depending on how long you are gone (two overnights or one) I would pay between $50 and $100 for the weekend. It's well worth it to have your home and pets looked after.

We have 2 dogs and a cat and our house sitter stays at our house. I make sure the fridge is stocked with foods she likes and pay her about $30/day.
For one dog I would pay about $15-20 a day. They are making your house look lived in, and bringing you mail in. Make it so they would want to do it again if you asked.

I have my pet sitters info right here: $17 per 30 minute visit (some clients ask for multiple visits per day). $48 for an overnight (that does not include additional visits during the day). You cats will need to be fed, watered and have their litter box changed daily. It is a benefit not to have your pets stuffed in a cage for the weekend where they are more likely to pick up respiratory infections. Good luck.
