Dog Boarding - Bolingbrook, IL
We are looking for a new place to board our dog for vacations. We are looking somewhere in the Naperville/Bolingbrook/Plainfield area. We have used one in the area but (this may sound weird) we think our dog may not be happy there. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Hi M.,
If you use Gail's Groomerie on Washington Street in Naperville (south of 75th street and north of 87th street), they have amazing person named "Lana" She works with the dogs and also takes the dogs home with her for boarding. Her business card is available at Gail's Groomerie or you can call them for details. I was coached to arrange for our dog to be bathed and trimmed at the end of vacation time so there is a "Gail's appointment" wedged in with the dog boarding. You pick up and drop off your dog at Gail's Groomerie before and after your vacation.

I don't know of anyplace near you. I have boarded my dogs at the Glen Ellyn Animal Hospital at Park and Roosevelt and it was find. I would suggest, go to dogster.com and search for boarding and kennels in your area (by name of town). There are several..then I'd ask if you could visit there with your dog and see how you like them...

The Dog Spot in Downers Grove on Ogden. We love the place. We have only left our dog there over a long weekend, but it appears that they run a pretty tight ship over there and the dogs appear to love it. Good luck!

Have you tried the newer PETSMART Hotels? My son helped set one up in Joliet.. then worked as a supervisor at it for a while.. He used to bring my dogs in occasionally just for "play date time". My dogs always came home happy. I have 3 large dogs. The dogs are fed, watered, kept clean, and exercised on a schedual. Dogs that can get along well with others are allowed to play together ( under supervision) And more aggresive dogs..play alone for a while in rooms with people. No dog is left in a cage all day. And people considering the Hotel..should go in and see it.
Good luck ..From one pet lover to another.

I've taken my dogs to Aunt Colleens in Joliet. I love it there and I'm pretty sure my dogs did too. We haven't been there in a couple of years, but when we did go, there were no kennels or crates (dogs just sleep in the house) and they took the dogs for a walk on their acres of land. My dogs were exhausted when we would pick them up. Here's the website: http://www.auntcolleens.com/
Good luck in your search! I had a hard time leaving my dogs, but with Aunt Colleens, I felt that they were in good hands.

M.,
Check out Orland Park Boarding Kennel...totally inexpensive and they are wonderful...the place isn't much to look at but my dog comes home to happy and "normal" - it's nice to know I can bring him somewhere that he feels comfortable. The dogs are in individual kennels...they can see each other but don't interact. They put them outside (again individually) in runs 2-3 times a day.
Good luck!
