Dog Boarding

We have a year old little Havannes poodle mix puppy. He's very hyper and loves loves to be around people. But we are leaving out of town for Thanksgiving. And when I called all the boarding places it's going to cost us $300+ for the 10 days we are gone. I can't afford that and all the people that we know are going out of town as well. Where can I put my Dog that wont cost me a fortune?

What can I do next?

Have you researched the cost it would be to take the puppy with you versus the cost of boarding? I don't have any pets right now so I'm not much help. But, if you were staying at say a relatives house maybe they wouldn't mind the dog as long as he didn't releave himself in the house you know?

Have you tried Bed & Biscuit Kennel? I thought it was only $7/day plus any extras you want, like a bath. It shouldn't be more than $100.

My vet is pretty cheap...$17 for a smaller house and 21 for a run. Dr. Daigle at Premier Pet Resort.

Have you called petsmart? I know they aren't cheap, but I didn't think they were that much. You could also check with local vets, they aren't my favorite to board my dogs, but they are usually the cheapest. Good luck

Usually you can hire someone to dog/house sit although I don't know how much they charge. You can either have them come a couple of times a day to let you dog out to go to the bathroom and feed them or you can have them stay there. I've never boarded my dog although I was always able to take her with me or we weren't going to be gone long so not real sure on boarding companies.
