I wear nude/tan pantie hose, and its just what i have always worn to dressy occasions. Well.....My husband told me he thinks those tan ones look gross. He wanted me to buy white and black ones to try. Its just funny that he even noticed. I wear skirts to church and just wondering what you all think on nylon/panty hose colors, which ones do you wear and with what color. I had to double the white ones to get a color i liked and he thought it looked great, but i felt different and wondered if it really looked good to everyone else.

let me say what i should have written before.
I have 3 kids 4 and under. Youngest is held by me all day long because of severe teething trauma.....so, i dont get to shave my legs half the time, which sounds gross and is gross, because a year ago i would never have dreamed. So i am NEEDING to hide my 3 oclock shadow. My husband has begged for me to show off my legs, but HAIRY legs???? ROTFL......maybe soon!
Thanks for the responses so far. Yeah, maybe the time i spend on here posting the question i could be in the tub shaving my legs and getting out the door a few minutes with the kids to get some tan! I am not downing my husbands tastes, just wondered what others thought. I always thought it was nasty to wear shoes/heels without nylons of some sort!
My husband does have good taste and so i do follow his advice most of the time.
I would say black maybe nice with a black dress but not white. I think it is cute that he noticed and made a comment about it. I do not like panty hose and do not wear them unless I have to do.
I haven't worn hose in years.
I keep my legs shaved, put some self-tanner on them, paint my toenails, and put on my dress! (and I look great, even if I do say so myself!)

Ok you both have bad style ;) - really PPers are right, pantyhose are out of style. Bare legs are in style. If you want a tan look there are spray on hose, basically spray tan.
White hose are for nurses ;)
If you are dead set on hose, wear a black dress with sheer black hose.
Wow, I havent worn panty hose in a zillion years, not even to church. Maybe he wants you to get some of the ones with the designs on them, they are really cute.... apparently he wants you to "stand out" a little bit? I dont think black or white would look all that great, but I guess it would depend on what you had on as well. Doesnt seem like Florida would be a place that wearing hose would be common at all. {scratchin my head}

I don't wear stockings in the summer, no matter how hairy my legs are. I hate to shave, and wouldn't do it at all, except that it makes my tattoo show up better when I do. Anyone who is grossed out by my legs has 359 other directions they can look.
And I NEVER wear pantyhose. A few hours in a pair of pantyhose, and I will have enough yeast to sit on a grape and hatch a bottle of champagne. I wear stockings with garters in the winter, and I like lots of different colors and patterns.
It depends on the circumstance and the outfit. White hose? Sure ... if you're a nurse! Otherwise, stay away from white panty hose, please! Black is fine as long as it goes with your outfit, preferably sheer black, not opaque, and not in the summer. Nude panty hose may not cover your "shadow" but it is by far the best IF you insist on wearing panty hose.
The best answer, IMHO, is to wear pants OR try epilating. I hate constantly shaving and my skin is too sensitive to shave more than once a week, but I love having smooth legs (not counting the cellulite - LOL!) so I decided 2 years ago to try an epilator shaver. I admit, at first is was painful and tough to inflict upon myself, but it quickly became easier and now I barely feel it. The best part is that I only have to do it once every few weeks and inbetween I'm hair-free!

I just read InStyle (aka Fashion bible) and the new alternative to nude is small, small, nude/skin hued fishnets - seriously. I have a pair and they are so subtle you can't even tell until you are right up on someone, but they still give a "polished" look to dressy/day time events.
That said, I don't wear any leg covers in the summer. hello 115 degree heat + panty hose = melting -LOL
But, try some different colors and patterns - you might be suprised with what you like:)
Depends a lot on the shoes too. There are lots of "footie" type peds to ear with pumps, etc so you don't "need" pantyhose.
But I'd stick with nude, taupe or black and they should match your shoes to avoid a cloven-hoof look!
well i dont wear panty hose at all, and pesonally i dont think ANYONE looks good in them, BUT if they make you feel good go for it BUT id stick with the nude ones only
I love sheer black hose - I think they are so darn sexy. However, they run like crazy so I find I usually get one wear out of them and then have to chuck 'em. I also like fun tights (opaque black/colored (thanks eighties revival!)/neutral), especially in my area where we are in fall/spring/winter for 11 1/2 months of the year (not. exaggerating). I pair them with high waisted, form fitting, knee length skirts, a chunky belt, and a tucked in shirt or blouse, and boots or heels.
I also wear sheer nude nylons on occasion. HAH! One of my favorite games is dress up and vacuum (keep in mind I'm a SAHM and have to make excuses to get dolled up and entertained). Nancy Sinatra + tights and heels + my awful, loud singing + vacuuming. Thank god my children have a sense of humor! They love it and run to grab their princess/monster/dragon slayer garb. Cleaning in style, aaaall right.
As for WHITE??? Heck no. Husband's tastes are...sometimes to be dismissed. I am fully with Dawn on this one. Awful, unflattering, impractical.
I don't get made up/dressed for my husband. I do it for myself. I'm the one who has to live in my body, no one else. If "you" don't like the way I look, that's FINE. But I get dressed to make myself happy.
White tights would not give me a boost. I put white tights on my children. I am not a little girl ;-)

Shave those legs-make hubby happy-pantyhose are really not flattering or stylish! Or use Nair in shower so you can go longer between shaves

The only hose I own now are black. And I very rarely wear them. I think I wore them last to a wedding a year ago in February. It gets really cold here in MN in Feb. and I wanted to look dressy.
I used to, many years back, sometimes wear white. I think they can look OK depending on the dress you are wearing.
Mostly, when I wear dresses now, I just go bare legs, like most other women I see. But sometimes, depending on a person's legs, I think hose can look better.
I get what you are saying about hairy legs! I have gone an entire winter without shaving!! Partly because of time, and mostly because I can get really dry irritated skin in the winter here. Shaving can make it much worse. Wear the colored hose proudly!!
Don't double up the white hose. It is fine just one pair to give a sheer white look on the legs not an opaque white.
Long story short here is I wear stockings and a garter belt to church on Sundays in the fall and sometimes in the winter with a sheer stocking. Husband doesn't know until we get home from church. It's great and comfortable and sexy too. ;-)
The tan or nude hose only look good when they are your actual complexion but you may need to try different brands to get the right shade.
In the summer and spring, I'm all about the bare legs. Hubby loves that too. I just make certain I have lotioned the legs up and go.
I think panty hose are nasty all way around...Especially nude!! He is right...Just shave and wear none and do your toe nails and wear sandals...So much nicer...Shaving takes not even 2 minutes, come on now...In the winter, wear black ones, I would skip the white as well...

Honestly, I didn't know woman still wore hose! (I'm bot trying to be rude, I really didn't.) Don't you get really hot? I guess my advice isn't helpful, because I don't think they look good on anyone...but, I haven't seem in so long, I probably don't really remember. If YOU and your husband love them and you feel great, that's what it's all about!!
When I worked I loved black panty hose with a skirt. In the summer or when I don't have too. No way! Strappy sandals will do just fine "

I never wear hose anymore because I have given up dresses (just out of laziness i guess), "Nude" hose look better than tan to me. I've never really worn white; my mom was a nurse back when nurses wore little white dresses, hats, hose & shoes, so white hose just looked like something from her hospital uniform to me. Black always look nice to me.
If you have all those kids and are still wearing dresses, you got one on me girl. I bet you look great!
