Does Heartburn Really Mean Baby Will Have Hair?
Everytime I tell someone about my horrible heartburn they say "oh shes going to have a lot of hair!" when I was pregnant with my son I didn't get heartburn like I am now, so did you have really bad heartburn and have a baby with lots of hair or a baldy?
So What Happened?™
Thanks ladies! I know heartburn won't determine if my baby will have hair but its fun to see who had it and had babies with hair or cute little bald babies....btw I LOVE bald babies! :)

It's a complete myth/old wives tale ;)

I had the most wicked heartburn from week 16 of the pregnancy till minutes after I delivered my daughter (I remember the minute I realized it wasn't there anymore---I ordered a cheeseburger and enjoyed every bite of it!). She came out completely bald and didn't have any hair until just before her second birthday. Now at age 6 she has a head full of blonde curls but has only had 1 haircut in her life and that was a year ago. It is indeed an old wives tale.

Absolutely not...I had horrible heartburn with both my girls and both girls took forever for their hair to grow out. :) I don't know why people say it, actually.

I never get heartburn. Until I was pregnant with my son. It was awful! All day long, I was eating tums like they were candy. But when my son was born, he didnt have lots of hair, he had just a cute little. Didnt surprise me though my husband was bald when he was a baby so I was just happy he had a little hair. And now, he has tons of blonde curly hair, its so adorable!

Well it was true for me. With my son i had no heartburn and he was bald till he was 6 months old. With my daughter I had the worst heartburn and she was born with more hair than many 1 year olds.

NO!!! I had heartburn with my first 2 pregnancies so bad and every told me oh, she'll have tons of hair - imagine my surprise when I didn't heart a head full of hair, but no hair - both baldies!! My third had a smattering of hair (way more then my first two), and I had very little heartburn.

I had terrible heartburn with my daughter, and her hair was over her ears and long enough all over for little tiny bow barrette. :)
I had very little heartburn with my son, and while he had a bit more than peach fuzz, it was not as long as my daughter's, and it was very dark and eventually all fell out and turned lighter. My daughter never lost any of hers, and had to have her first haircut at 6 months because it was so crazy!
I tend not to believe in things like this, but in my case, it proved more true than I would have thought.
Congrats and good luck!

I don't know if it's true or not.
But I had horrible heartburn for months (I should have bought stock in Tums) and my son was born with a beautiful full head of long (over an inch) hair.

For me the amount of heart burn was equal to the amount of hair they had.
#1 only had it for about a month.. he had very little hair.
#2 from about 4 months on I drank Maloxx like water with no relief.. his hair was so thick and long. The back of his hair covered his neck and touched the top of his shoulders, it was also covering his ears.
#3 very little heartburn... very little hair
#4 lots of heart burn ( not as bad as #2) lots of red curly hair
#5 med amount of heart burn.. she had plenty of hair, but it wasn't thick or real long. I was able to get a baby barrett in her hair for her hospital pics.

When I was pregnant with my first baby, my mom told me that wive's tale. I had KILLER heart burn.
My daughter did, indeed, have lots of hair.
Second baby....no heart burn and he still had lots of hair.
You never know what you'll get til you get it....heartburn or not.
Best wishes!

With all three I had pretty bad heartburn.
My first was by fair the worst. He was the most bald.
My other two came out hairy and dark. and then both went bald and blonde:)
Was it the heartburn...who knows. But I think it is a funny connection, that sometimes will be accurate.

I never had heartburn with my second and she was born with a lot of hair. I actually knew that before she was born. The ultrasound tech told me towards the end of my pregnancy that she saw a lot of hair. I had no clue you can see that on an ultrasound and was a little skeptical, but she was right!

I had unbelievable heartburn with both of my daughters (through the whole pregnancy) and they both were born with TONS of hair that did not fall out! I am caucasion, so my descent doesn't explain it. Neither of my siblings or my husband was born with a significant amount of hair and my mom and MIL both say they did not have heartburn during pregnancy. Have fun with ponytails!

Old wives tale. For every mom who had a baby with hair, and heartburn you can find just as many that had a baby with hair, and no heartburn. All three of mine had hair, not a lot but none of them were baldies, and I never had heartburn.

My first son had a headful of hair and I had major heartburn with him. My second son had a headful of hair as well and no heartburn. I always thought it was fun to find out who experienced the old wives' tales. I thought I did until I had my second son! I will say, I DID carry both boys like "they" say you do when pregnant with boys--high and straight out like a little basketball under my shirt. LOL!

I had heartburn with both of my pregnancies...in the third trimester...because that's when all your guts are being shoved UP to make room!
And both of my boys had a full head of dark hair.
But babies born with dark hair is something that runs in my family. I was born with dark hair.

1st baby, horrible heartburn. So bad I stopped eating.
Born w/ a teeny tiny bit of chick fuzz.
2nd baby, no heartburn. (He gave me terrifying constipation instead.)
Born w/ a head full of hair.
