Does Anyone Use HE Detergent in Their Front Loader?

Hi Moms,
I have a front load washing machine and have always used 'Dreft' to wash baby clothes as instructed to do so by my mother in law! After a horrible week when my washer broke (which naturally coincided with my toddler's bad case of upset tummy), both plumber and Whirlpool tech told me it was important to use a HE laundry detergent. Dreft don't seem to make a HE version and I can't find a color/fragrance-free HE detergent. Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks!

What can I do next?

We used Dreft until we got a new front-load washer and I was totally bummed about not using dreft anymore. We ended up switching to Seventh Generation's baby detergent that is made for HE machines. I believe Method also makes a baby detergent that is HE friendly too. Hope this helps. Good luck.

There are alot of sensitive skin detergents out there. I never used dreft and we never had any issues.
I have often wondered if the whole "dreft thing" was a marketing ploy. We use Arm and Hammer... but I am sure there are plenty more out there. I hope that helps.

Hi S.,
I have four kids and have always used Tide. My kids have the most sensitive skin. They are allergic to basically every sunblock on the market and a lot of lotions bother them, but I have never had a problem with the detergent. I'm not sure about your washer, but I have a front loader and it actually has a setting for an extra rinse. You could always try the extra rinse. I have never been able to use Dreft because I never felt like the clothes came out as clean. If it makes you feel better maybe you could get advise from your pedi.

Hi S., I question that not using an HE detergent caused your machine to break, but he is the professional so must know. Anyway, I am a Shaklee distributor and sell Shaklee's HE detergent. All my customers love the job it does as well as the economy -- it is highly concentrated so goes much further than store-bought brands. It is also non-toxic so is safer for your baby and for the environment. In fact, my daughter-in-law told me that our detergent gets her baby's clothes much cleaner than the Dreft that she was using. When she puts our detergent right on babyfood stains, spit-up, and baby's poop stains as a pre-spotter, and then washes them in the machine with the same detergent, everything comes clean - she is amazed! I will be happy to chat with you if you want - just call me at ###-###-#### or e-mail me at ____@____.com Also feel free to browse my web site at www.emilytaft.com I love to talk about these products and give hints on the best way to use them. Hope this helps you. I would love to hear back from you. E. Taft
