Does Anyone Know of a Good Modeling Agency in the DFW Area?

I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with modeling/talent agencies? I have been told that I need to put my child in print modeling and tv ever since he was small. My husband and I would love to try and see if this is something for us but we don't even know where to start. We are from CA and we have a photographer friend who loves to take pictures of my son and my son loves to take them. If anyone has advice or experience I would love to hear about it. Good and Bad.

Thanks,
C.

So What Happened?

Well thanks everyone for the advice, I think my husband and I will try some of the agencies that you all mentioned and see what happens.

My 5 children are with Kim Dawson. It is really fun and good at helping them associate with adults. You can look at their website www.kimdawsonagency.com and look under models and then children. It has been my experience that if you would like representation, you should send two photos of your child...one a headshot and one full length (baby should be sitting up). The pictures should be ones that you took---not professional ones. And, you should keep sending them every 3-4 months...as your child grows and changes.

You can also try the Campbell Agency. Good Luck!

My understanding is that the best ones in the area are Paige Parks, Kim Dawson and Campbell. They'll all tell you the same thing: send in some snapshots and if they're interested, they'll call you. I've been told the same thing regarding my daughters, but it seems to be more of a "look" they need than how beautiful your child is. My children are both blonde with blue eyes, which isn't really anything unique. It's incredibly difficult to break in to the industry, but I wish you the best of luck. Certainly, lots of kids do it every day!

Kim Dawson has the best reputation in DFW. I know two guys my age who are now professional models and they travel the world doing it and make huge money, all thanks to Kim Dawson. I'm thinking of taking my son to see her too. Good luck.

Listen, it's my humble opinion that modeling is a great way to let your kid do something fun now to make money for college or their bank account. You never know how long their "cuteness" to the modeling world will last, so if they seem to like it or be a camera hog like my son, let them go for it. I draw the line at acting. I think if they ever want to do commercials and such, they can go for that later and they'll have a great portfolio to work off of from their modeling. I figure around 10 yo is old enough for him to tell me if he's sick and tired of something or if he likes it.
If you keep your head on straight and remember that it's your job to keep them safe and grounded, they'll be fine.
Good luck

PS- My son is going to turn 2 next week. I live in the Corinth area, and if you'd ever like to get together for a play date, personal message me and I'll give you my number!

Hi C.
Welcome to Ft. Worth from another fellow Californian! We only moved here 2 years ago (we're both native californians) and we love it! We also moved to Keller, so I'm curious to know where you're going to be living. It can't be too far from us. I'd love to meet you!
Unfortunately, I'm still new to the area myself, so I can't advise you on modeling/talent agencies, but I can tell you that my daughter is 4 1/2 and my twin girls are 17 months, so our kids are all the exact same age! I might be interested in what you find out on talent agencies, too!
Feel free to send me a message and maybe we can meet up one of these days at a park or something. I'm also Vice President of the Keller Moms club, which is how I got plugged in and learned about what there is to do in the area and made a handful of really good friends that I'll always stay in touch with.
I hope to hear from you and welcome again!
-K.

I know of several people who have been represented by the Kim Dawson Agency and had pretty good luck. They are located in Dallas and might be able to help you out with your search for modeling jobs.
