Does Anyone Know How Much an MRI Costs?

I may have to get an MRI next week. Just found out today that my insurance does not cover it, but whatever I pay will just go toward my deductible. Does anyone know the approximate cost range for one?

What can I do next?

I use to work in a surgeons office and I was in-charge of setting up the testing. Some places will charge you anywhere from 500-800 with out insurance. If you want to know of some places that I know that charge between 500-600 please email me at ____@____.com and I can provide you with the facility names. Yeah i does depend on the body part...but I do have a couple places in tarrant county that charge 500 and up for Back or neck.

Hope this helps.

My suggestion is call where your going to have your MRI, and they should tell you exactly how much your MRI will cost. I know that each place charges different prices, pending on the what MRI you will have, and how new their machine is.. Good LUCK next week, hope it's nothing!!!!

Call the place that your doctor recommended and ask to speak to someone in the business office. Ask them what it will cost because you are paying for it yourself - no insurance. Ask about payment plans - most will let you pay for several months without any additional fees like interest. This would be a better option than paying with a credit card, where you have to pay interest on it. Also, when the bill comes - call back and ask if you pay it in full, if there is a discount. They have to send sooo much self-pay to collection where they only get partial (if any) payment, they are usually willing to strike a deal. You won't know unless you ask - the people you are talking to in the business office don't make a ton of money, so they won't be offended by you asking. Good luck - I hope the results are good.

My son recently had an MRI. The total bill was $3000, but he had to be sedated because he is only 3 years old. Hopefully it is not near that much for an adult w/o sedation.
Good luck.

I'd think it'd be how extensive it is and what body part.... just call them and ask. Heck, I just had to have a stupid ultrasound and my insurance didn't cover it and it cost me about $400 out of pocket.. a STUPID ULTRASOUND on a cyst... not even something fun like a baby! LOL... insurance stinks!
