Does Anyone Go to Coon Rapids Women's Health?
I am pregnant with baby number 3 but haven't been to the doctor yet. With my 2 previous pregnancies I went to Fridley OB/GYN (the doctors deliver at Unity). I really like the doctor I've been seeing there but Mercy is only 2 miles from our house so that would be really convenient. Has anyone seen any of the doctors at Coon Rapids Women's Health and delivered at Mercy? Which doctor did you see? Would you recommend him/her? How was your delivery experience at Mercy?

Hi there I also went ot CRWH and I had a high risk pregnacy due to the fact that I was having twins I did not deliver at mercy because I only went to 33 weeks and had to go to abbott but I see Dr. Schoel she is awesome I would recommend any one to her she is very smart very easy to talk to and I really felt comfortable with her when I was dealing with the high risk pregnancy I have sent quite a few people to her and they all love her!! She truly is great. It is so hard to find someone you feel comfortable with. Good luck to you!!

My cousin actually just delivered there on Mon. She had a Dr. Maurice I beleive, and the nurses we're great, very attentive and nice, she had 6 people in the room with besides her doula and herself. They didn't let you record the actual birth just before and after. All in all I would say she had a positive experience.
I can't tell you about visits prior to having a baby, I don't don't know where she went.

I've been going to CRWH for 8 years and love it. I delivered both my boys at Mercy--one a very difficult delivery, the other a scheduled C-section. The first experience was pretty bad, but not because of the hospital (I can fill you in if you want), and the second was EXCELLENT! Even with a C-section I was home in 2 days and felt great (considering!). I see Dr. Malinda Johnson and LOVE her...have now referred my mother and another friend to her as well. I also like Dr. Sprague. I've always appreciated having a clinic so close with doctors I like. Good luck!

I'm sorry I can't give you advice about the Coon Rapids Women's Health, but I'm newer to the Mounds View area and I was wondering if you could give me the name of the doctor you had at Fridley OB/GYN. Thank you!

I have gone to Coon Rapids Women's Health for a long time! I went there through both pregnancies. I see Dr. Elias, who I absolutley love. I have also seen Dr. Friese, he is a very kind man. I think you would be very happy with either doctor! I know a couple other women who have seen Dr. Linman-Miller(not positive on the last name) and really like her, if you prefer a female.

I'm also pregnant with my third child and about to have my third c-section at Mercy in two weeks. I went to Coon Rapids Women's Health for all three and even before that. I recommend Malinda Johnson. She is the one who delivered my second baby and will deliver this one. She is very friendly and makes sure that all of your concerns or questions are answered. Another really good doctor there is M. Lindman-Miller. She also is very friendly and helpful and she delivered my first son by emergency c-section 5 1/2 weeks early. She really helped both us through a life and death situation. The only problem with her is that she is usually booked months in advance. Hope this helps with your decision!

Hi! I went there, and my mom works there (not a dr though) and I know a lot of the drs. When I was pregnant with my daughter, they told me to see all the drs, so you kind of knew who they all were, and they were honestly all really nice because at delivery time, you just get the OB dr that is on call. Dr Elias delivered my baby, and that's who I wanted, I really liked him and I also heard Dr. Friese is really good, I saw him once, but then he left the clinic and came back a couple years ago I think, I had a friend that delivered with him, and she liked him. Hope that helps! Have a great day!

I went there in 2005 and have many friends who have recently used them. I love the clinic and hear so many positives about the staff. The one doctor I've heard more complaints about is Dickerson. Seems you either love or hate her. Sounds like she can be quite blunt...to the point of rudeness. I saw Dr. Friese and he also delivered my son. He is very intelligent and professional. His calmness was great for me. He can seem pretty serious, but he does have an excellent sense of humor. He will not blab your ear off unless you ask questions. At that point he answers them wonderfully and thoroughly.
I also had briefer experiences with Dr. Schoel and she seemed absolutely great. I also thought Dr. Lindman-Miller was so sweet and empathetic. Dr. Gorneau was very light hearted and a jokester. He was probably a little too much for me...made me freak out a little saying I could have the baby any minute when it was still pretty early. It was my first and I was pretty uptight! But he was really nice and very relaxing to be around.
I know a lot of people who like Dr. Elias. I saw a couple of the Nurse Practitioners and athough they were nice, I'd prefer to primarily see a MD.
I know they say to see as many doctors there as you can, I still prefer to establish a "relationship" with a primary one. I think the follow through is better. They know you! In a normal easy birth you spend such a little amount of time with the doctor anyway, it's not such a big deal.
As for Mercy...I had always heard such great things. I honestly can say I pretty much still cry thinking about my experience there. My primary delivery nurse was great (except she chewed gum the whole time), but pretty much everything else stunk. I was put in the overflow area, which was part of the problem. We filed a complaint and I know that measures were put into place to prevent the problems we had from happening again. But I would hesitate to go there again. I've actually heard recently of more positive experinces at Unity. The only problem is they do not have the level 2 nursery if needed. But then again, look at what happened several weeks ago at Mercy.
I think you can be assured that Women's Health is awesome. Plenty of people have great experiences at Mercy, and I've not heard of any recent problems, so I think you'll be OK. Just speak up for yourself if need be. Good luck!
