Does Any Mom Have a Cure for Cellulite????

I am a very small figured mom (108)lbs. And i have pretty bad cellulite on the backs of my thighs/butt. I've tried the whole cream thing and spent good money. Needless to say it didn't work. I eat small meals, but maybe it's sugar causing this. I never wear shorts or skirts because of how bad it looks. I was wondering if anyone has ideas of what works to get rid of the nasty bumps on my legs so i can enjoy my small figure. I did purchase an elliptical machine, but buy the time i can use it, i'm exhausted from running around with my little toddler. But, if that is the answer to my problem, i will make myself find the time and workout harder.

What can I do next?

Nivea! The bikini challenge kind. Works great :) Used it in college in combination with working out and a diet and it was amazing :) Best wishes!

I have inherited the nasty gene, as well. :) The best thing I've found is to do hamstring & glute exercises. I really notice a difference when I focus on these two muscle groups. I'd highly suggest making the time. Even 15 minutes of an evening...then build on that.

Good luck!

I know you're looking for a 'cure' but it is important to understand what cellulite is and also understand why all the exercise in the world won't help. Sadly, there may not be a 'cure' for cellulite but you may be able to reduce the visual effects.

From WebMD:
Cellulite is not a fat problem, it's a skin problem. It has nothing to do with what you weigh, or how much weight you lose.

The fat that causes cellulite is not the same as the fat that takes us from a size 10 to a 14, experts say. That fat lies far below the skin, closer to our bones, and it is what the body burns as fuel for energy.

Cellulite, on the other hand, is made up of fat cells that reside within the skin. They can't be burned as fuel, says Murad, so dieting, exercise, even liposuction won't help.

The best evidence for increased incidence in women is that it's related to hormonal changes, but also the anatomy of what's called 'septa' -- fibrous bands of tissue that surround fat cells in the skin to help keep them in place. When we are young, this doesn't matter, since both designs work equally well in keeping cellulite anchored within the deeper layers of skin. As we age, however, the normally elastic septa can become hard and rigid. When they do, they bear down on the buoyant cellulite cells, which begin pushing up through the spaces of the hardened septa pattern.

Along with the pattern of the septa, it matters how many of these fibrous bands you have. Since septa are genetic, cellulite is, too. Cellulite is hereditary, so much so that the indications of who will get it, and to what degree, are present almost from birth.

As far as things you can do to reduce the appearance, you can use over-the-counter creams or research various diets that help 'firm the skin'. More advanced and costly treatments include mesotherapy and other high-tech massage therapies.

Hi Dawn. I am also a small person with a bad cellulite problem. Mine got so bad that I went to see a dermatologist about it. The doctor told me that cellulite is caused by your hormones and genetics and not by what you eat. I eat well but my cellulite is so bad that I can only wear bermuda shorts and I never wear a bathing suit anymore. He also said that there is not any cream, lotion or pill on the market that works. He said that there are some procedures that plastic surgeons perform that can decrease the appearance of cellulite for a short time but the treatments are very expensive and you have to get them done often to see any kind of results. He said that daily exercise, especially Pilates, can also help to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Anyway, I thought I would share what my doctor told me. I hope this helps!

Hi Dawn. I too am a small figured M. (around 110) and have struggled with the cellulite battle. As other members have said, it is unfortunately related to genetics, that's why a small framed person could have a lot or a large framed woman have none. You could try creams, but they really are only caffeine made to dehydrate the skin to appear smoother (I used to sell some, I don't recommend). The only thing that has worked for me is intense exercise, especially working on muscle tone (i.e. instense yoga, pilates, etc.) Yes, it's hard to fit in with kids, I know, but so worth it so you can enjoy that small figure. Good luck!

I asked a personal trainer once and her trite answer was this- cellulite is directly related to the type of food you put into your body. Stop eatting junkfood, eat frwesh fruits and veggies and you will see a decrease----- I have NO idea if it is true but that was what she told me

HI Dawn,
Actually the only true "cure" for cellulite is exercise.. there are ways to conceal it but to actually get rid of it you have to do exercises that work your thigh muscles(inner and outer)try using a resistance band it helps a lot. Cellulite is just fat sticking together in pockets creating dimples where the fat has moved so eatying small meals won't cure it. I hope this helps and good luck.

P.S the elliptical machine will do wonders and you really only need to be on it 5 mins at a time once or twice a day to see results.

Try building muscle! I have twin boys who are now six. I started pilates this summer. Not only am I starting to lose weight (down from 160lbs to 145) but my stretchmarks and cellulite are smoothing out. Creams don't work! I am sorry you wasted so much money. Even the Mary Kay cellushape only helped stretchmarks, not cellulite.

Sorry, but there is no "quick fix" for cellulite. Cellulite is simply fat storage and it must be removed by exercising, specifically targeting those areas. Eating low-glycemic foods (fruits, veggies, beans, legumes, whole grains) every 3 hours to maintain blood sugar levels and avoiding white potatoes, white rice, white bread, processed foods, cakes, etc. will also help keep those pesky bumps off the thighs and rear.
Many of the moms I work with make it a priority to get up a little earlier and begin their day with their workout so when the rest of the day gets busier, they have already exercised, they feel better and seem to have more energy and vitality for running around with their little ones.
So, make the time for yourself (you'll be happier you did and healthier as well)!

To your health,
D.

Diet has a BIG part in the problem.......PARTICULARLY CARBOHYDRATES....ESPECIALLY the processed and simple ones. Hydration plays another, lack of exercise another. The creams are pretty worthless. What you CAN do is use your KNUCKLES and run them DOWN your legs repeatedly and across the inside and outside of the thighs. I do this EVERY time I put on cream or lotion after my shower. I started doing it YEARS ago when I was competeing. It HELPS! When you go to a salon or spa or doc to get treatment for this...this is basically what they do. They might use a tool or stick of some sort, but this is pretty much what they'll do and it's LOTS cheaper to do it yourself and on a regular basis!

These are pockets that are trapped and this is what gives it that look. Using your knuckles helps to break up these pockets.

Hi Dawn,
Have you tried the Arbonne cellulite system? It is a two step system and when I actually use it as directed I get results. There is also a topical water treatment that you can use along with it which really helps as well. There is also a 45 day money back guarantee, which makes it risk free. If you want to try it, you might want to check out my special on the mama perks page. I hope this helps!

Giving up sugar and dairy was what did it for me, but mainly the sugar. I am using dairy again now and still no cellulite, so I'm guessing that's what did it for me. I found that all kinds of things cleared up as well, including my achy knees, my messed up sleep schedule (I'd sleep during the day and couldn't at night), earaches, and heart palpitations, fatigue, and that's just the physical stuff. Weird, huh? Anyway, good luck!

I have heard of a massage technique that will redistribute cellulite. I know of one person trained in this particular technique. She is a M. ay my kids' preschool. I can give you her number if you PM me.

I would suspect that it takes a few treatments and probably costs alot more than the creams. But on the other hand, there's nothing like a good massage to take away the stress of a two-year old.

I'm 26 and a size 4 with perfect body fat percentage and still have cellulite so i feel your pain! It is genetic and you can't get rid of it completely...just reduce it.

I wouldn't recommend lipo , as it leaves scar tissue underneath the skin (and it just look barbaric). I recommend good exercise, healthy food, massages, and Arbonne's cellulite system. ALSO, I checked into the Velasmooth treatment at a laser spa. It uses suction and infrared technology to smooth out the cellulite. It's non-invasive but usually takes 6 treatments...and it's somewhat temporary. There is a laser spa in carmel that offers it and they run a lot of specials. I haven't had it yet but it seems to produce somewhat effective results and helps circulation in those areas (like a super focused massage).

Good luck!

I am also a small figured M., and the only way I lost my cellulite from having babies is running. The more I ran, the more it disappeared. I would definitely try to find the time to work out more. I know it is so hard (I have a 3 and 1 yr old), but the more you work out, the more energy you get. It will pay off in the end! :-)
